"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Nod to November

Oh my, it has been a while since I've blogged. I need to get caught up.Hopefully I can remember all the goings on. Sophie finished out her football season with a birth in the championship game. Unfortunately they lost, but Sophie loved her football season and plans to play again next year.

Some random pics on my camera roll.
I love that Devin and Sarah and family come over on Sundays for Sunday dinner.
Eva colored this beautiful Thanksgiving placemat with a list of everything she's thankful for.

I flew to Denver the Saturday before Thanksgiving and got to spend time with the Cardon's before the big holiday.
Miss Lucy took this selfie.
Isn't she beautiful?
Elizabeth is growing up way too fast
Cheesy Grandma selfie
Oh my, does Colorado have some beautiful sunsets or what?
No wonder they are known as Colorful Colorado.

We took a Sunday walk and enjoyed every minute of the gorgeous sunset.

We also spotted these deer chewing on the neighbor's plants.

Here's Miss Leah's Thanksgiving placemat.
Another fabulous coloring job.

I made this pumpkin flan.
It was amazingly delicious!
On Monday we headed to Colorado Springs and the Cheyenee Mountain Zoo.
It was such a great zoo and so fun to explore with the Cardon's.

Kanga and roo
Tigger
Go Cougars!
Our picnic lunch.
It was such a nice day, you can see they even took their jackets off.
We rode the Sky ride
What a view!

Tom flew into Denver on Tuesday night, so on Wednesday morning,
we all hiked up Castle Rock.
It was another beautiful view on a beautiful day!

Zack was very generous to share his adventure hat with
Grandpa Tom Tom

After our big hike,
we ventured into downtown Denver for breakfast at our favorite,
Denver Biscuit Company!
It is so delicious!

And of course we had to pick up some
VooDoo doughnuts!
The day before Thanksgiving,
the pie baking begins.
This is a browned butter Apple/Pear pie,
it was yummy!

Thursday was the big feast day.
The obligatory picture of the spread:

Happy pilgrims

That evening, Lucy, Sara and I went to the movie,
Wonder.
It is a great movie, but this is kind of a bad picture.

Friday, Tom and Jon took off on a manly man adventure snow shoeing,

so Sara and I left Lucy in charge and headed out for some Black Friday shopping.
Lucy supervised the Gingerbread house decorating.
That night we went to the Parker Christmas tree lighting ceremony complete with ice sculptures,
choirs singing, and Santa Claus.

They didn't even throw us out went Zach accidentally knocked the
head of a reindeer off accidentally.
Oops!

Saturday morning, Sara, Lucy, Leah and I drove to Colorado Springs
to the Glen Eyrie castle for the holiday tea party.
It was so fun to get dressed up for a girl party.

Glen Eyrie castle is close by the Garden of the Gods and the grounds have quite the view.
While we waited to be seated for the tea party,
the caretaker let Lucy and Leah ring the bell.

The first course was a little weird,
black truffle balls with some kind of foam.
but things got better after that.
The dessert course is always the best part!

This herd of big horn sheep were hanging out on the grounds of the castle.

Sara and the kids decorated their home and Christmas tree
when we got back from the tea party!
Zach does a great photo bomb!

We had such a fun Thanksgiving holiday in Colorado.
Thanks Sara and Jon for being such excellent hosts.
We have so many blessings to be thankful for.
Tom and I flew home on Saturday night,
so I spent the next week getting my house all decorated.
I thought I'd throw in a pic of my Christmas tree.

November was another whirlwind of activities for you! Sopie must be a great football player - that is awesome! All of Sara's kids are really growning up! Your pie, pumpkin flan and Thanksgiving feast all look so yummy. I love that you got to go to a tea party at a castle with Sara and her girls - how fun and the pictures of you and your girls are all so cute! What a beautiful place! I also love the picture of Tom in Zac's Adventure hat!!

We must have seen the same beautiful sunsets over Thanksgiving! I love all of your pics of the place mats, the flan, the pie, the animals, the tea party in the castle, the lights, the trees and most of all, the cute grandkids!
