"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Come What May, and LOVE It

We haven't had any adventures lately to blog about, just normal day to day stuff. I did go visiting teaching yesterday and shared Elder Wirthlin's message from General Conference. For some reason, I just love Elder Wirthlin's talks. His delivery isn't the most polished and entertaining, but he has such great messages. With all the commotion and distress going on in the world it was such a great reminder to me to "Come what may and LOVE it". Instead of being discouraged when things don't go as planned, we need to learn from difficult times, become stonger and wiser and then we'll be happier as a result. If we heed the counsel to 1)Learn to laugh (which is most often the last thing you want to do) 2) Seek for the eternal 3)the principle of compensation and finally 4)Trust in the Father and the Son, our lives will be happier and we will experience more joy. I truly believe that the Lord is separating the wheat from the tares. I think that our convictions will be challenged more and more and we have to know what we stand for and believe in. We need to not only talk the talk, but walk the walk as they say. As we follow the prophet with faith, we will be blessed. I know I will strive to "put my trust in the Lord, do my best, then leave the rest to Him.” I'm so thankful for a living Prophet on the earth and for the opportunity to listen to him and to read his words and the words of all the apostles from General Conference. Even in a down economy, job insecurity, and a world with messed up moral values, we can "come what may and Love it".

Great message! I wish that you were my visiting teacher...haven't seen or heard from mine for quite awhile. It's nice to be reminded of the blessings that the gospel brings through servants of the Lord.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful thoughts. I feel so uplifted. The music was perfect with it, too.

I love Elder Wirthlin's talks too. When I was in "Teachings of the Prophets" at BYU, I can't remember, but I think it was Thomas Monson that was once asked who's talks in conference were his personal favorite, and he said Jospeh Wirthlin's. Neat, huh?

So fun to hear from you Caralee. Good luck to Michael. That's awesome he's going to South Africa. I'm sure Dale and Marian Reed would have lots of great advice to give him.
