"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Happy 24th Birthday to Whitney!
Last weekend I took a road trip and headed down to Provo. I wanted to spend February 3 with Whitney to help her celebrate her 24th birthday. All while she was growing up, it seems our winter vacation would often fall on her birthday and we would be out of town. She always felt bad about that. Last year, since she was in Russia, I couldn't be with her on her birthday, so this year I wanted to try and make it all up, so I decided I wanted to spend February 3 with Whitney in Provo. I got to Provo on Thursday in time to see Whitney before she left on a birthday date. While she was on her date, I went to Taylor's intramural basketball game at the Smith Fieldhouse. Then I took Taylor to dinner at Goodwood Barbecue. I spent the night at Whitney's apartment Thursday night, then Friday morning I met Whitney and Patty on campus at the BYU Museum of Art. We had lunch at the MOA Cafe and then toured the Carl Bloch exhibit.
We rented the IPADs and it was AWESOME!
I highly encourage anyone and everyone to go to the exhibit if they haven't already seen it. After we finished viewing the exhibit, the three of us went shopping. It was so fun hanging out with Patty and Whitney. Then Patty went home, so Whitney and I went to dinner at Mimi's Cafe,
then we picked up Taylor and went to Whitney's apartment and got ready for her Birthday party.
Whitney's roommate Lauren planned the party and she did such a great job. She made a Whitney Jeopardy game board.
It was so clever! After all Whitney's friends arrived we divided into three teams and we played Whitney Jeopardy. The categories were Musical Morris, Favorite TV Shows, Mission Math, Favorite Musicians, and Whitney's Childhood. I rocked the Whitney's Childhood category, but I didn't win, Andrew's team came away with the win.
I had to leave the party earlier to head over to the BYU Indoor practice field to watch Taylor's coed intramural soccer team play. It was so fun watching Taylor play soccer.
He's amazing! Afterwards I headed out to Salem and spent the night at Patty and Hal's. Saturday morning, after Patty fixed me a delicious breakfast, I took Whitney birthday shopping at the University mall. We found her some cute clothes and got her ears pierced.
She had pierced ears when she was a little girl, but because she was allergic to Nickel she kept getting infected and sore ears so she let her ear holes grow in. She was ready to try it again, so we got her ears pierced. Then we had lunch at Chick Filet (just for you Devin!)
and then headed to the Marriott Center for the BYU basketball game vs. UNLV.
It was so exciting! I got to stand in the student section (they stand the whole game) but I loved it and the Cougars didn't disappoint. They won pretty easily. After the game we hung out at Whitney's apartment, then Whitney and I went to the BYU Men's Volleyball game verses UCLA. It was so fun! BYU is ranked #3 in the nation and UCLA is #5 so it was a great match. BYU won 3-0! GO COUGARS!! Sunday morning I met Taylor at the Smith Fieldhouse for his Stake Conference. Elder Russell M. Nelson was speaking because they got a new Stake presidency. It was a great meeting and so nice to be with Taylor. Then I headed back to Boise. It was so fun to spend the weekend with 3 of my favorite things, my kids, my sister, and BYU!

What a fun weekend! Provo is so fun. I wish I would have done the Ipad tour for the Carl Bloch exhibit. I still loved every short minute of it.
Sounds like Whitney had an amazing birthday. . . with her favorite things (people), too!
You packed in lots of fun--that's awesome! And I'll bet Whitters loved having you there for her birthday. Happy late birthday Whitney!
Sonds like a fun weekend!!! Now you need to fly out and take care of Sarah, poor thing!
Sarah's Mom is still there, then her sister comes to help. We leave in two weeks to fly out there ;)
Hey Aunt Joan,
Good question. We were supposed to have an ultrasound this past week, but the technician was gone for some reason, so we've rescheduled for next Friday.
Happy Birthday Whitney! Sounds like a fabulous weekend and a lot of fun!
