"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Happy 33rd Anniversary and a quick trip to Girl's Camp

Tom and I celebrated our 33rd Anniversary by going out to dinner at Barbacoa restaurant at Parkcenter in Boise. It is a really cool Argentine grill inspired restaurant. It has a very cool ambiance and we got to eat outside on the patio. The food was delicious and it was a fun splurge.
Tom had the Chicken pot pie
I had the seafood grill
They brought us a banana bread pudding for dessert by mistake
We had ordered this passion fruit creme brulee, so we ended up with two desserts. YUM! Later that week we took a quick trip up to visit Girl's camp. Tom couldn't make it up to Girl's camp on the Thursday night Bishop's night because he was going to be on the Young Men's high adventure, so we drove up on Tuesday afternoon and we took a couple of girls with us who had just finished summer school. We drove right past the Halstead fire up by Stanley.
Fortunately it wasn't smokey at Girl's camp. We ate dinner with the girls and participated in their evening activity,
and then had our own ward fireside inside a motor home. We only had 3 YW at camp from our ward.
We stayed for breakfast the next morning,
took a walk around Alturas Lake,
our home away from home,
and then we drove back to Boise. We saw this herd of Pronghorn by the side of the road.
There's no where in Idaho quite as beautiful as the Sawtooths.
We got back to Boise, gathered up Tom's camping equipment and I dropped him off at the church so he could head up on the YM High Adventure based at Burgdorf Hot Springs.
There's nothing like August in Idaho.

Oh, Joan, you look so pretty at your anniversary dinner and the food looks yummy! Free dessert - awesome! I'll bet this is Tom's favorite part of being a bishop - to have so many reasons to go camping up in the beautiful mountains. Hope they've got that fire under control; it's surely a bad season for them.
