I drove down to Utah a week ago Thursday, to spend some time with Whitney and with Patty. My drive down was great, no snow, clear roads, 70 degrees when I got to Utah. Friday morning was a different story. It started raining/snowing and didn't stop until I left on Sunday. Friday morning I volunteered in Whitney's 5th grade classroom. It was fun meeting some of her students and seeing her in action. She is an awesome teacher and those kids are so lucky to have her.
She had the whole 5th grade in her classroom to rehearse a patriotic song that they were singing at the assembly later that day.
Patty met me for lunch and shopping later that day. We ate a delicious new restaurant in Provo called "Communal" and had the best "winter" soup and kale salad. We loved it.
Friday night Whitney and I went to the BYU vs. Tennessee St. basketball game.
BYU won easily so it was awesome!
Whitney spent the night with me at Patty's house on Friday night and we got up early Saturday morning and braved the drive from Elk Ridge down to Provo so Whitney could play in her intramural coed volleyball game. Whitney was the MVP of the team, unfortunately they lost.
Saturday afternoon, Patty met us and Whitney braved the crazy roads and drove us into SLC for some more shopping. We had lunch at a yummy Pub called MacCool's.
It continued to snow all day Saturday and into Sunday. Patty and I slid down the hill from Elk Ridge and met Whitney for church on Sunday morning at the MTC. There was at least a foot of snow on the ground at Elk Ridge. It was so fun getting an inside look at the MTC and feeling the spirit of missionary work that is there. We went to Music and the Spoken Word and to the "Dress and Grooming" presentation for the new sister missionaries and to Relief Society. Sister Esplin of the Primary General Presidency spoke for Relief Society and gave an excellent talk. Then, we got to have lunch in the cafeteria with Patty and Hal. It was so fun seeing all those cute missionaries and thinking of Elder Morris.
Here are some pics of the snow when the sun finally came out in Provo around noon on Sunday.
Thankfully, when I drove back to Idaho after church, the roads were wet but clear and once I hit Tremonton there was no snow all the way back to Boise.
It was so fun to be with Patty and Whitney, so even with the crazy weather, it was worth the drive.

Great pictures of everything! I am so glad that you braved the snow, slush, rain, hail, sleet... and made the trip. We had a great time! I'm also glad that the roads were good for your returning trip!
