It has been a crazy month of September.
I was called as a substitute seminary teacher
(to add to my two other church callings),
I have 14 piano students,
and we organized our inaugural
Friends of BYU Golf Tournament.
We actually have been working on the golf tournament all summer
and Tom was the main organizer,
but we spent many hours getting sponsors, prizes and golfers.
It turned out to be a great success in raising money
for local BYU student replenishment grants.
We brought in over $10,000!
We had the tournament at the Falcon Crest Golf Course.
It was a little chilly in the morning,
but the sun was shining and there was no rain in sight.
It was a beautiful fall day.
A list of our sponsors
We let the Larry H Miller dealership advertise a new car at one of the holes
Tom's lawfirm was one of our sponsors and gave out water bottles and
legal advise at one of the holes.
Tom's foursome with Bob Hurst
My brother John was also a sponsor and he and Aaron played in a foursome.
Some of our prizes
The score board before the scores were entered
We had some great raffle prizes. 4 tickets to the BYU vs. BSU football game, an iPad mini, a handpainted BYU print, Timbuk2 bag, a tool kit from Gabe's Auto Parts, etc. Unfortunately, I didn't win any of it.
Tucanos catered our lunch for FREE! It was delicious!
Inside the dome during lunch
Tom, our Master of Ceremonies handing out the prizes.
We had a lot of positive feedback from the participants and we think we can do even better next year.
On another note, I got to go to lunch with some of my favorite people.
Pam came to town to help Missy with her new baby Claire,
so we went out for sushi. YUM!
Next we're off to Provo for our annual BYU Alumni Chapter training conference.
Here's hoping October slows down a little bit!

Wow! Your event sounds and looks amazing!! It sounds like a huge amount of work, but a worthwhile payoff. Good job!
You have had a very busy and productive September! The golf tournament looks amazing - you two are wonderful alumni directors- BYU will keep you forever! The sushi lunch looks so fun!
That golf tourney looks like it was first rate! That's a lot of money to raise for a good cause! I know what you mean about September. So busy! And I'll bet you are an awesome seminary teacher, Joan. I sure enjoyed our sushi lunch together. We'll be back to bless Claire on the 12th and 13th. Maybe dinner?
