Last week I drove down to Provo for the annual BYU Alumni Chapter Training Conference. This was my 4th year attending this conference, but this year, I had a new role as the BYU Intermountain Chapter Director so it was a little more stressful than usual.
I arrived at Aspen Grove in time for the 2 pm opening meeting.
Cosmo also arrived in time to kick our meetings off.
I spent all afternoon and evening in meetings and then Matthew Richardson, BYU VP spoke to us during our banquet dinner.
Afterwards I drove down to Provo and took Hailey and Taylor out to dinner at Chick-Fil-A. Big spender aren't I?
Friday was more meetings. I had to lead a discussion on using the BYU resources like Program Bureau, Speaker's Bureau, Athletics, etc. in helping and supporting the local alumni chapters. The discussion lasted about an hour and a half, but it went well and I got a lot of positive feedback.
That evening the BYU Alumni/Boise Chapter hosted the BYU students from the Boise area for a pizza party.
We had a great turnout.
These 3 goofballs hadn't been together since before their missions.
After the pizza party, Taylor and Colton and I met Hailey at the BYU Monte Bean Museum for a private tour
(Hailey works at the museum and she knows all the hidden secrets.)
Meetings started early on Saturday morning.
Friday and Saturdays meetings were all held at the Hinckley Center.
What a beautiful building inside and out.
Robbie Boscoe and punter Lee Johnson both work for BYU Athletics and spoke to us . They were very entertaining.
I met Devin and Taylor at the BYU Bookstore after my meetings ended.
Devin's in-laws were in town for the game and discovered the BYU Law school tailgate party. They invited us to join them.
It was an awesome tailgate party with J-Dawgs and homemade rootbeer floats.
We tried to pay but the Law school alumni
were happy to host us. (Trashers forever)
Cosmo was in attendance!
They've just completed the remodel of the front of the Law school.
Now there's room for tail gate parties.
After the tailgate party we walked up to the Marriot Center where a friend from Boise was having another tailgate party
Me and my boys!
It was a beautiful day in Provo,
a gorgeous day for the game with temps in the 80's.
We had awesome seats on the 10th row.
| It was so fun sitting with Devin and getting all the inside information |
I had to leave after the 3rd quarter to drive back to Boise, but BYU beat Virginia 41-33. It was an entertaining game and had a much better ending than last year.
We attended the game in Charlottesville and BYU should have won that game but lost in the 4th quarter on a Taysom Hill intereception.
It was sweet redemption.
I love BYU and the opportunity I have to work with the Alumni board.
Go Cougars!

You look so beautiful, Joan! Wow! You're a presenter now. That's awesome! You weren't trashing that party. You are a law school alumni, too!
Go Cougs! Too bad they were always losers when I was around to cheer them on.
