We decided it was time to for a Whitney visit, so we flew to Phoenix and after a not so great experience with Budget Rental cars, we rented a car and found Whitney in her new Elementary school's music room. We had hoped to make it to her school before her after school choir practice ended, so we could see her in action, but because of the not so great experience with Budget Rental cars, we got there too late to watch Ms. Morris in action. Nonetheless, she is a pretty cute music teacher.
She had graduate school class that Thursday evening, so she headed off to class and Tom and I found our hotel and got some dinner, and then we were able to see her later that evening at her apartment.
On Friday, Whitney took the day off and we drove up to Sedona.
Going to Sedona has been on our "to do" list for quite a while, so we were so excited that it finally happened.
C'mon, who doesn't want to go to the spiritual vortex of the United States?
This guy was obviously pretty excited about it.
It is a beautiful place with lots of red rock formations and it reminded us a lot of southern Utah.
Whitney and her friend Kiera came along on our adventure.
We looked around the shops in town
Ms. Morris was jammin on the outdoor musical xylophone.
After shopping, we bought a picnic lunch and found a perfect picnic spot!
It was beautiful!
Did I mention it was HOT? Too hot to do much hiking, but it was fun taking the scenic drive.
Who knew we would actually find pine trees and green plants?
Saturday morning, we got up early and I drove Tom out to a golf course and I met Whitney at the temple.
It was such a blessing to be in the temple with my temple worker daughter.
It was a cherished memory I won't soon forget.
That night we went to a delicious restaurant in Scottsdale called
The White Chocolate Grill.
It was restaurant week so we had a delicious 3 course meal.
My strip steak with mushroom and coconut sauce was absolutely the best steak I think I've ever had.
This white chocolate brownie wasn't too bad either.
Whitney's church didn't start until 1, so Sunday morning we took a drive out to
Carefree, AZ and found the Boulders Golf Course.
We walked around the resort and dreamed about staying there someday
I love this daughter of mine!
It was so fun spending time with her.
We went to Whitney's Sacrament meeting and then headed to the airport and flew back to Boise.
Thanks Whitney for being our Arizona tour guide and hostess.

this is the sweetest post and tribute to Whitney. Isn't it amazing how much we moms love our daughters? There are no words!
I just love that Whitney! I wish we could get her to move to Colorado. She'd LOVE the weather here-- just like Mother Russia in wintertime--her favorite. Glad you got to go see the Chief!
Can't wait to go back to beautiful Sedona! I felt a certain, I don't know, spiritual vortex of energy or something crazy like that. So much so, that the next day I was on such a wild spiritual energy high I didn't even have to go to the temple. I just went right out and golfed! That's probably why Ms. Joan will be a widow in heaven and I will be wandering the earth and looking for more crystals.
