"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Marvelous May!

May is almost over and here I am again trying to some up our busy month.
We started off the month with a bang with a Cinco de Mayo/House warming
family party at Missy's gorgeous new home.
Pam and Roger and Stacy had come for Mother's Day and to help Missy get moved in.
It was so fun to see them and Missy's beautiful new home.
Our Cinco de Mayo celebration was catered by Cafe Rio!

Tom spoiled me Mother's Day weekend, first he took me out for breakfast and then we took an awesome hike up to Avimor.
I love how green Idaho is in May, come July, this hike will look a lot different.
I forget how bad I look without makeup.
My husband is pretty cute though out on a hike.

We also went out to dinner on Saturday night and had my favorite - seafood,
but I forgot to take a picture!
Devin and Tom made Sarah and I dinner on Sunday, grilled steak and shrimp, potatoes, asparagus, and salad.
Happy Mother's Day to me from this little cutie!
For dessert we went out to Charlie and Lucille's and had strawberry shortcake
with all of the extended Morris family in the area.
Lucille was so happy to be with her family.
Sarah's birthday was the next weekend.
Devin and Sarah came over for Sunday dinner and
I made this delicious mousse for Sarah's birthday treat.
To celebrate Mothers during the month of May, the Young Women in our ward hosted a tea party and invited their Mom's.

I got to bring my cute grand daughters.
We played a version of the "Newly wed" game with mothers and daughters.
It was quite entertaining!
Tom gave me a Sur la Table gift card for Mother's Day so I could take a cooking class.
He knows that one of my bucket list items is to go to a cooking school in Italy,
so this was the next best thing.
I invited Sarah to join me at a French Pastry class to also celebrate her birthday.
We made pate a choux

and Macarons
Aren't we the cutest little pastry chefs?
Creme puffs
Financiers, with browned butter and strawberries.
French toast macarons

Next stop, Italy!
Last but not least, Tom, Taylor and I drove down to Utah last weekend.
We stayed with Patty and Hal on Thursday night and Friday morning Tom and Taylor headed to Moab for a couple of days of mountain biking.
I got to stay with Patty and Hal and have some sister time!
We met John and Cindy and Pam and Roger in Logan on Friday late afternoon, but stopped and shopped at IKEA and a fun quilt store in Logan on our way.
I love our family tradition of meeting at our parent's grave to honor them every spring.
Evan does such a beautiful job with the flower arrangements.

 Grandma Peterson's house.
It's the last house standing on 2nd North, hopefully there are no development plans in the works.
We always decorate Grandma Peterson's foster parent's graves, James and Sarah Park.
Afterwards, we had dinner at Maddox and Missy and Jared who were on their way to a 1/2 Marathon in Ogden, stopped and had dinner with us.
Patty and I had a couple of beautiful morning hikes in the mountains around her home.
Hal joined us on Saturday morning.

It was so beautiful and green

Patty and I shopped all day on Saturday and did a little bit of family history stuff.
Saturday evening, Patty took me to the Payson temple where they serve every week.
It is a beautiful temple!

Tom and Taylor got home from Moab late on Saturday night.
They had a fabulous time and can't wait to go back for more.
We got up early on Sunday and drove back to Boise.
It's been a Marvelous but busy May!

You have had a wonderful May, Joan! I'm so glad I got to be with you twice. I love our tradition of getting together around Memorial Day to honor Mom and Dad, too. What cute pics you have of your new little grandson and I'll bet Lucille and Charlie love to have Devin's family so close by. I love your pics at Pattys of the vibrant green surroundings. It's green around here, too. Wish it stayed that way all through the summer!

You certainly did have a "Marvelous May" with so many fun gatherings! I am so glad that you came to visit us - we had a great time shopping and of course being with Pam and John! I love all the fun pictures of you and your cute family!

Ah, I'm feeling a little bit jealous- of you all being together and shopping time and of the cooking school. Do you share recipes? I think you look beautiful without makeup.
