"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Fabulous 4th of July weekend!

I started the 4th of July weekend with a hike in the Boise foothills. I'd been on this same hike the week before and there hadn't been a fire.  How quickly things change with a dry dessert landscape and fireworks!
Friday night, Tom and I volunteered at the Boise Shakespeare Festival.
We took tickets and handed out programs and picked up trash during intermission and at the end, and for all that we got to see a GREAT production of My Fair Lady.
It was well worth the effort.
It's a beautiful setting!
Saturday morning we got up early and drove to Weiser, Idaho to ride the
Weiser river bike trail.
Here we are all ready to go~
little did we know what fate awaited us.
We went with our friends and neighbors, Evan and Melissa Hathaway.

We tried to research the trail online but didn't have much success, what we thought was a 20 mile downhill greenbelt trail turned into a 31 mile gravel trail.
It was hard work and a very hot day without much any shade.
We ran out of water and energy and were very happy when we finally came to a trail head.
Thanks to our rescuers aka as Tom and Evan, we rested in the shade of this sign while they road another 10 miles to get the car.
Finally a map showing the distance!
We were so tired!
Our rescuers arrived and we made it back to Boise and were greeted by the Cardon's.
They were on their way to Selah, Washington to visit
Jon's parents and used Boise for a pitstop that night.
After dinner at Habit burger,
we launched some fireworks purchased in Colorado.
Evidently Washington doesn't allow fireworks so the Cardon kids
wanted to have some firework fun before the 4th.
Unfortunately Uncle Taylor wasn't around to run the show, but Jon did a great job.
Smoke bombs galore!

Yay for fireworks!
On Monday, the 4th of July, Tom went golfing with my brother John and Devin so I headed up to Hidden Springs for their annual neighborhood 4th of July parade.
Eva pulled Sophie in the bike trailer.
They had their bike all decorated.
After the parade, there was a party in the park complete with popsicles and inflatable water slides.
Tommy just liked crawling around the park.
That night we hosted a neighborhood barbecue and served
Chicken terriyaki burgers.
Yum
We invited our neighbors the Manwarings
and the full-time missionaries.
Charlie and Lucille also came.
The kids had a blast swimming in the pool.
Tommy loves his turtle swimming suit.

After dinner Jed Manwaring organized a flag ceremony
with our neighbor, Sylvia Hessing's, grandkids.
It was awesome!

Then it was time for the big fireworks show!
Don't you love Tommy's 4th of July pajamas?

It was a fabulous 4th!

Your bike ride looks like it wasn't for the faint-of-heart. I don't know how you did it! The pool party looks like fun and I do like Tommy's patriotic PJ's! I love all of the cute pictures of you and Tom and your family!
