It's time to catch up on our busy month of June.
Father's day weekend was my 40th highschool class reunion.
My friend and former BYU roommate Mary Rasmussen Hesterman,
drove down from Redmond Washington and stayed the weekend with us.
We visited our friend Betsy Garcia Buckley on Saturday afternoon and attended the reunion dinner at the Caldwell Train depot on Saturday evening.
It was a trip down memory lane seeing all our old classmates a few of which I had a hard time recognizing, but fun reminiscing about our school years.
On Father's Day, Devin was a lone bachelor because Sarah and the kids went to Lake Powell for the week, so he and Charlie and Lucille came over for Sunday dinner and a yummy mudpie Father's day treat! I love these 3 wonderful fathers and 3 generations of handsome Morris men.
The Monday after Father's Day our Young Women held a girl's camp fundraiser.
We sold $20 spaghetti dinners "to go" complete with salad and french bread.
On Monday afternoon, the girls met at the church and helped cook spaghetti and put together 54 spaghetti dinners.
Between 5 and 6 pm the ward members who had pre-ordered dinners, drove up into the church parking lot and the young women delivered their meals to their cars.
It was a busy afternoon but so nice to have our fundraiser over with in a day and we exceeded our goal! Now it's off to girl's camp!
The Saturday of Father's day weekend, not only did we have my class reunion but we also had our yearly stake service day. Tom and I spent all morning at the Hidden Lakes Reserve doing trail work.
So the next weekend we decided it was time to PLAY!
We left Boise on Friday at noon so we could stop for a picnic on the banks of the Payette river on the way up to the mountains.
We drove up the middle fork of the Payette river and hoped to camp at Boiling Springs campground but all the spots were taken, so we had to use this unofficial spot
(which turned out great, I just had a longer commute to the bathroom ;)
We got our camp all set up and decided to take a hike into Pine Burl hot springs.
It is a beautiful 2.2 mile hike into the forest and along the river.
We finally made it to the hot springs and had it to ourselves.
Gorgeous and peaceful.
That's my idea of a great Idaho hotsprings.
Then it was a hike back to our camp.
I totally rocked my fitbit numbers for the day.
I ended up with 25,000 steps for the day
and over 100 flights of stairs!
The might mountain man and fire builder relaxing by the fire.
Saturday morning we drove up and over the mountain and took another hike.
It was a beautiful morning and we saw lots of beautiful wildflowers and quite a bit of bear scat. Thankfully we didn't see the bear.
We stopped for a picnic on the way back to Boise!
Tom found a great private spot by the river.
Unfortunately on our drive home, we ran into a forest fire.
Not sure how it started but it was right by the road so it could have been a cigarette tossed out of a car window. There were flames right by the road.
Thankfully, they extinguished it by Sunday evening.
The BYU football coaches and a few players came to Boise for a Sunday evening fireside.
It was so great hearing from Tanner Mangum, BYU quarterback (who's from Eagle)
and Kalani Sitake, head coach.
Both gave awesome, inspiring talks.
I got to babysit Devin and Sarah's kids while Sarah went up to girl's camp.
I love this little guy!
Eva and Sophie are amazing little swimmers and love showing me all their skills!
A trip to Delsa's is a tradition!
I got to take another trip up to the mountains with my girlfriends
for our annual Girl's Retreat.
We left on a Tuesday afternoon, visited a friend in Cascade and then
met our friends in McCall for dinner.
We stayed at our friend Colleen's cabin in Donnelly.
What a view on their back deck that evening.
We stayed up laughing and playing games and then had crepes for breakfast on Wednesday morning.
We took a hike around the neighborhood
and then played in the lake.
Colleen had purchased this awesome "island" that we blew up
We floated out on the lake
and I got to try paddle boarding.
I actually got up. It was so much fun!!
Eva and Sophie brought a couple of their friends to our pool for a wild pool party.
Tommy loved it!
I can't wait to see what the rest of the summer brings!

You've turned into quite the mountain woman. Look at you camping in a place with no bathroom! I'm glad your fundraiser turned out well. I'm glad you didn't see the bear too. There's been bear sightings on the mountain Ken hikes on every morning. The number of hikers is greatly reduced since the bear sightings, and the ones that are still brave enough to go wear little bells . . .all except Ken. He says that bells scare bears, but they also scare birds, so he refuses to wear one. I'm hoping he doesn't meet up with a mama bear one of these mornings. I love seeing Mary.
