"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Celebrating summer

Summer around here is always very scheduled, but we found ourselves with an open weekend so we headed up to Robie Creek and spent a day at the beach (at least Idaho's idea of a beach).

We celebrated our anniversary the last weekend in July since we would both be with our ward youth on our anniversary, August 3.
We drove up to McCall and then on to Brundage ski resort where we took the ski lift up the mountain.
We took a beautiful hike down the mountain.

I'm not so good at selfies.

The wild flowers were BEAUTIFUL!
We even picked huckleberries on the way down.

We stopped at Shore lodge before dinner and walked around a "woody" boat show.

We stayed at the Tamarack lodge in Donnelly.
We had the place to ourselves.

Saturday morning we rode the Tamarack chair lift up to the top of the mountain.
We didn't realize that our room package included a free chairlift ride, free bike rentals, and free beach chairs and umbrella at the beach.

Cascade lake way down there.

Again we found huckleberries on the mountain so we had to stop and pick them.
We made some delicious huckleberry ice cream when we finally got home.
After our 7 mile hike, we headed to the beach and enjoyed our free beach chairs and umbrella.
The view from our beach chair on Lake Cascade.
Sunday we celebrated Lucille's 90th birthday!
We invited Charlie and Lucille to dinner and of course had to have birthday cake with fresh homemade huckleberry ice cream.
Taylor has been enjoying his internship with Moss Adams in Seattle this summer and at the spur of the moment entered a beach volleyball tournament with a girl he met at an LDS YSA conference the weekend before.
She, Sadie, plays college volleyball for EWU so is very talented, and Taylor is just plain talented at whatever sport he plays.
Long story short, they won the entire tournament.
Here they are with their trophies and the free gear they won.

Here's to more summer celebrations!
