"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Glenwood Revisted! Girl's Camp 2016

The first week of August I headed off to Girl's camp.
It was a nostalgic trip down memory lane for me because our stake Girl's camp
was at Glenwood up in Garden Valley.
The Caldwell stake purchased Glenwood in 1972, my 3rd year of girl's camp.
I attended girl's camp for 3 years at Glenwood and back then,
there was nothing there
but a BIG meadow and chemical toilets.
My, how things have changed.
There are now cabins, mess halls, amphitheaters, basketball courts,
swings, and picnic tables as well as bathrooms with showers.
It is kind of like "glamping".
The first day we were there, we had a line dancing class.
It was awesome!
We had flag ceremonies every morning.
and hikes

hung out at our ward campsite
Of course we had to have skit night
Mountain view girls waiting to perform.
The beautiful view of the mountains from the amphitheater
The stake presidency came to visit

The girls got to go rapelling and white water rafting.
It was AWESOME!

I came back to camp after rafting all day and found this beautiful bouquet of a
dozen red roses from my husband.
It was our 37th anniversary and he drove up to camp and left them
on the table where we ate our meals.
What a guy!

We had our testimony meeting with the Bishop.
Aren't we a lovely group in our matching Mountain View ward T-shirts?

There were a few pranks. Our tents and canopy got wrapped in cellophane,
but that's what makes Girl's camp memorable.
I don't know how many more Girl's camps I have in me, but this one was very worthwhile.

Joan, you are the bravest girl ever to be a faithful leader all of these years! When I look at these pics, I think you really enjoy it and I'll bet you are a wonderful leader of the girls. They may never let you quit!

Those are some lucky, lucky girls to have you as a positive influence in their lives. I remember Glenwood, too. Wow! What great changes!
PS I like you in peach!
