August went by way too fast, and we stayed busy every week and weekend.
It has become tradition in our Ward, that the week before school starts we have a big birthday bash for the young women. This year was no exception, we started the day at the temple where we did temple baptisms with family names that the girls had found. Then we headed to my house for a delicious crepe brunch.
After brunch we had a swim party!!
We usually spend the whole day, swimming, biking, and crafting, but this year we finished around noon because the stake had a big back to school activity that night.
Later that afternoon Taylor had his own little swim party.
We planned a BIG family campout in August up at Poverty Flat Campground, my favorite.
Missy and Jed and family joined us up at the campground on Thursday afternoon.
Tom and I took Eva and Sophie up and look who joined us in our campground.
We had our own pet deer.
He really liked us and kept visiting.
Missy had this really awesome tree tent, that the kids LOVED!
Looks like an awesome camp spot, right?
On Friday morning, we visited the hot springs just up the road.
What a great way to take a bath with the girls.
Sarah and Tommy showed up Friday afternoon.
These kids had a blast in the hammock.
We had quite a time keeping Tommy out of the dirt,
he hadn't quite learned how to walk and wanted to crawl everywhere.
On Friday afternoon we headed to Warm Lake and spent the afternoon at the beach
Tommy even got a ride on the paddleboard
It was a gorgeous August day in the mountains complete with a rope swing.
Later Friday afternoon, Taylor and his friend Rachel showed up.
We had prepared a delicious dutch oven dinner, fit for a king, or at least for 11 of Taylor's friends.
We had corn on the cob, barbecue ribs, Jedd's dutch oven potatoes, watermelon, dutch oven bread and honey butter and to top it all off apple and peach dutch oven cobbler.
Here's the 11 friends gathered around the campfire. Taylor had invited friends from Provo for the big campout and a rafting trip on the Payette.
Our campsite with all the tents
We made mountain man breakfast for the big crowd on
Saturday morning and Missy made yummy monkey bread.
Taylor and Colton doing some camping yoga
We spoke so highly of the beach at Warm Lake that the college kids wanted to go before heading down the river.
Eva loved the rope swing. She's quite a dare devil!
You can't really see the rope swing but the kids had a great time on it.
Tom guided the kids down the river.
They kind of looked like a refugee boat with 13 people on board,
but they had a great time.
This is right before they hit a big rapid.
August means birthdays for the Morris family.
I wanted to celebrate Eva's birthday before school started so one afternoon,
I took Eva shopping, out to lunch and to pick out a cupcake at the cupcake store.
Isn't she a cute 8 year old!
The Western Idaho Fair comes at the end of August.
Tom and I always debate if we want to spend the money to go, because it's always the same, year after year,
but we decided we'd better go again this year.
Tom found his tractor out in a field.
Enjoying our corn dog!
Checking out the midway!
We always end the night with an ice cream baked potato.
YUM! It's worth the price of admission.
We also helped with the 4th annual Friends of BYU Golf Tournament at the end of August.
We had almost 90 golfers this year.
It has been fun to see how this event, which we started, has grown each year.
On Eva's 8th birthday August 27, she got baptized.
She was the only child being baptized, so Grandma Palmer spoke about Baptism and
Grandpa Tom Tom spoke about the Holy Ghost.
It was a very nice service and so rewarding to see my son baptize his daughter.
I was so glad Taylor got to be a part of it before heading down to BYU the next day.
It was an awesome August!

You had a great August, Joan! Cute tittle. I'm so glad Missy/Jedd and family get to go camping with your family - I know they love it! You had quite a crew with Taylor's college friends. And what a cutie Eva is. Baptisms are pretty special!
