"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

February Fun!

It is so fun having Devin and Sarah and family here in Boise.
Devin is coaching Eva's 2nd grade Yball team so it has been fun watching Devin coach 12 8 year old girls and watching Eva play.
The Young Women in our ward were in charge of the February joint YM/YW activity.
We have hosted a Valentine's themed Jr./Sr. Mixer the last couple of years where we invite the over 65 members of our ward for dinner and conversation.
Since we are in a new ward this activity was new to a lot of the members of our ward so we didn't have a huge turnout of older members, but those that came loved it.

The young women made soup and we had home made soup and rolls.

One of the YW was in charge and she did such cute table centerpieces
Look at these cute cookies she had made.
After dinner, we did speed dating, so the young men and women could get to know the seniors.
It was awesome to see everyone communicating.

It was a very rewarding evening.
Tom and I drove down to Utah for President's day weekend.
Thankfully the roads were clear and the weather was fairly warm.
Patty and Hal are always so nice to host us.
We got to Utah late on Thursday night,
so on Friday morning Patty, Hal and I went to the
Payson temple and did some temple work.
What a beautiful temple!
Afterwards we drove to Provo and met up with Tom who had been meeting with Taylor,
and went to the BYU Art Museum for lunch at the MOA cafe.
Afterwards we enjoyed the Minerva Teichert art exhibit
with all her Book of Mormon paintings.
It is pretty amazing!
Patty and I did some sister shopping afterwards.
Tom and I met up with Taylor for dinner at Waffle Love.
This nutella waffle with strawberries and cream was delicious!

We then went to the BYU Men's volleyball game.
I love going to the volleyball games at the Smith Fieldhouse.
The game atmosphere is electric.
BYU is good, they are ranked #3 in the country.
They didn't disappoint and won the match with UC San Diego in straight sets.

You gotta love Cosmo!
On Saturday, Tom, Devin (Devin and Sarah had also driven to Utah for the long weekend) and Taylor went skiing at Alta on Saturday, so Patty and I had another sister shopping day.
We drove to SLC and shopped at Orson Gygi and then hit up IKEA.
We had lunch at Bona Vita Italian Bistro.
The pizza and salad were delicious!
Our attempt at a selfie.

Patty was asked to babysit Conrad and Hailey's two children Saturday afternoon until Monday,
so we stopped in Lyndon and picked up Londyn and Dex from Hailey's Mom on our way back to Patty's house.
For dinner on Saturday night we met Devin and Sarah and family at Bam Bam's Barbecue in Provo.
We had barbecued nachos and they were actually really good.
Tom, Taylor and I met up with Devin and Sophie and Eva at the BYU vs. St. Mary's basketball game.

It is so fun watching a game in the Marriott Center even when the home team doesn't play very well.
Unfortunately the Cougars lost, but we had fun nonetheless.

We got up early Sunday morning, 6 am, and drove back to Boise so we could make it to our 1 pm church block.
Hooray for Patty and Hal and shopping and BYU games on long weekends!

And hooray for really great YW/YM activities! That is such a great idea! What do you mean you are in a new ward?
I have to admit, my heart skipped a beat when you told of all the fun sister time and sister shopping. I hope we can plan some when I get home! You guys do fun stuff!

What a fun month, Joan, especially on President's Day Weekend! Patty and Hal really are the nicest hosts ever! We were just there for a night last week. So fun that you could hang out with Taylor and Devin and family could come, too! I'll bet the Young Men and Young Women love you and Tom!

Let's decide right now that we will never attend another BYU basketball game when they are playing St. Mary's. They never play well against that team.

Your weekend in Provo sounds like so much fun! Those waffles do look amazing. And what a great ward activity! The girl who helped plan it did a professional job on those cookies!
