"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

So long September

September is a birthday month for the Morris family.
We kicked off the month celebrating Tommy's birthday.
I have a tradition of taking each grandchild out to lunch and shopping to celebrate their birthday.
Tommy turned 2 on September 4 so we went to his favorite restaurant,
old McDonald's as one of my grandkids used to call it.
After lunch, we stopped at the bakery and got a cupcake, then spent about 45 minutes in the toy truck aisle in Walmart finding the perfect toy truck.
It was a very fun outing with my 2 year old grandson!

On Labor day, we decided to float the Boise River.
It was quite an adventure.
The raft I borrowed was difficult to steer so I ended up in a tube,
rather than drifting aimlessly and Tom took over the "hard to steer" raft.
Sarah, Eva and Sophie got caught in the trees and fell off of their
paddle board and had to be rescued.
Thankfully we all survived.

Tom and I celebrated our anniversary a month late by driving up to
Lucky Peak Reservoir and renting a jet ski.
It was a beautiful late summer day at the lake.

Taylor tagged along and had a great time!

We love going to Art in the Park every September, so we hopped on our
bikes and rode the greenbelt to Julia Davis park.
We brought Taylor along and of course we had to try the ice cream potato.

Taylor picked up a stomach bug and wasn't feeling well the next weekend,
so he jokingly was riding around in Grandma's wheelchair.

He hitched a ride on the scooter.
And some random events:
My latest craft project with my Pinterest group friends.
Mutual night teaching the Activity day girls how to braid

Miss Sophie signed up on a football team.
She is a very fast runner and loves playing running back and scoring touchdowns.

Tom and I took advantage of the great weather and took a beautiful hike
into the foothills above Boise.

The end of September I joined my sisters in Oakley Idaho for our Sister's Retreat.
We all wanted to get together before Patty left for her temple mission to Kona Hawaii.
We met in Oakley so we could visit our Aunt Nedra.
Aunt Nedra is so gracious and invited us to lunch and then to stay the night.
I love this sign hanging on her wall in the basement.
My grandpa Gabrielsen was a builder and these were the signs
he would put in the yards of the homes he was building.

Aunt Nedra's beautiful table set for lunch.
We spent the afternoon visiting and talking about family history.
My cousin Leslie and her son Spencer drove from Ogden and joined us for our visit.
For dinner we went to my cousin Eric's for a delicious roast beef dinner

Eric's wife Marcy, making our dinner.

Aunt Nedra made us a delicious breakfast complete
with homemade bread toast and homemade jam and a breakfast casserole.
We left after breakfast and drove to Salt Lake City where we were to meet our Uncle Glenn for lunch.
We shopped a little bit, then went to Olive Garden to meet for our lunch.
Unfortunately, Uncle Glenn had the dates wrong so we ended up eating our lunch without him.
Afterwards we shopped some more and then drove to Patty's house in Elkridge.

It was Adam's birthday, so we ate fries in his honor.
The next morning we did a session in the Payson Temple
After the temple we drove to Provo for some lunch at our favorite Thai restaurant

Patty worked so hard to get this missionary journal of our great grandfather Isaac Fox put together.
We picked up the finished product at BYU Printing.
They are beautiful.
Notice the snow on the mountains.

We started the month with a birthday and we ended the month celebrating Sophie's birthday.
We went to Chick FilA for lunch then went shopping at Gap.
We concluded the month of September with another beautiful hike.
This time we drove up to Black's Creek above Boise and found some fall color.

This is the Oregon Trail going into Boise.
Pretty cool to see the actual wagon ruts.
Plus we got to see the actual spot that Boise was named.
We love fall in Idaho and spend as much time as possible in the outdoors trying to soak it all in before winter arrives.

Joan, all of your months are so busy and September was no exception - with hikes, bike rides, floating the river, birthdays, and trips to Oakley and Utah. You really stay active! I love the pictures of you, Tom, Taylor and your cute grandkids.
