"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Marvelous March (not really- I hate March weather)

March started out marvelously as I got to attend Eva's presentation on her ancestors.
Eva had an awesome unit at her school on her family history. They learned about immigration and then studied their ancestor's lives to learn where their family history was from. I went to the class open house to see all the student's displays.
Eva shared stories from her Canadian, Greek and Norwegian ancestors.
Tommy of course got to come also!
The students dressed up as one of their ancestors and pretended they were an
immigrant and wrote a letter home.
I loved that Eva pretended that she was an immigrant girl from Norway.
It has become a family tradition to attend the
State High School basketball tournament at the Idaho Center.
Tommy loved hanging out with the boys and grandma.

and of course drinking the free chocolate milk!

Tom and I had cabin fever one Saturday and drove up above Lucky Peak to Arrow Rock Reservoir.
We had hoped to find a hike but there was too much snow on the ground.
We made the best of it and ate our picnic in the car and looked at the beautiful scenery.
For Christmas this year, Tom's lawfirm gave us a gift certificate to
Barbacoa. One of Boise's best restaurants.
We had a reservation to go around Valentine's Day, but I had some health problems
so we had to postpone until March.
It was worth the wait.
Tom had a steak sandwich which he loved
and I had a delicious piece of salmon.

We shared this chocolate mousse for dessert!

John and Cindy had their mission farewell in March.
so Kay and Ken came to support them and stayed with us.
Ken and Tom went snow shoeing on Saturday and Kay was a good sport
and went to Eva and Sophie's basketball games.
It was so fun to watch them play.

Kay and Ken went to dinner with us on Saturday night at the Sockeye Grill.

On Sunday, we headed out to Caldwell for John and Cindy's farewell
It was such a fabulous meeting.
John and Cindy will be such amazing self-reliance missionaries
in the Philippines.

Rhonda helped Cindy put on a delicious dinner for all the friends and family that
came to hear them speak.

Sunday evening, Kay and I had so much fun
playing duets.
We used to play duets together when we were growing up.

Monday morning, Kay and Ken headed back to St. George.
We were so happy they came to visit!
I learned a new skill in March.
My friend, Jody, taught me how to crochet blankets with this really soft, cuddly yarn.
So I made this afghan for Whitney.

For Spring Break this year, I took an air/road trip.
I started off in Colorado visiting the Cardon's.
I took a picture of this map in the Denver airport
with some pretty random info on all the states.

I hung out with Sara and went to her body pump class a couple of times.
She's an amazingly good teacher!
We went to a fun bakery/grocery store for some cute Easter cookies

and ate dinner at Bad Daddy Burger Bar in Aurora.
We went on an awesome hike at Red Rocks on Saturday.

The John Denver statue

I think they were hunting lady bugs

We stopped at the Fractured Prune on our way home for a doughnut treat!
We had an Easter Egg hunt in the back yard,

with some fun toys and dollar bills involved.
On Sunday afternoon I flew from Denver to Las Vegas where Tom,
who had driven down from Boise, picked me up.
We spent a fun evening in Las Vegas, eating dinner at the Culinary Drop out,
walking through the Venetian shops and sharing an ice cream treat,

and then walking on the strip.
This pretty flower carousel is in the Wynn Resort Hotel

We stayed in the Venetian and then had brunch at the
Wicked Spoon before driving to St. George.
Yum!
Ken and Tom golfed on Monday afternoon and on Tuesday,
Ken took us into Zion National Park
After, fighting the crowds for a while, we made it into the park and found
a place to park, and we took a hike.
What a beautiful place!

We ate our picnic on the side of a cliff!
Tuesday evening we took a walk in the evening to the sandstone temple quarry.
It was a beautiful evening and walk up to where the pioneers cut the sandstone
for the Saint George temple.

Then we drove up to the overlook above St. George.
What a view!

Tom flew back to Boise on Wednesday morning and I got to
spend the day with Kay, we went to her Keynotes
rehearsal and had lunch with Ken at the Japanese restaurant
and then did a little shopping.
Thursday morning I got up early and hit the road to drive up to my
BYU Alumni board meetings.
It was my last board meeting. I was asked to serve
4 years and I completed my service.
We had meetings all day Thursday and were done on Friday after
the farewell luncheon where I received this beautiful clock for
my service.

We toured the new MTC at the conclusion of our meetings.

I loved the murals on each floor of the 6 story classroom building.
A view from one of the windows.

The view into the court yard.

Bye, bye beautiful Hinckley center!

After the tour I drove to the Provo City Center Temple
and did an endowment
session.
What a beautiful temple!

I got up early Saturday morning and drove back to Boise.
What a fun air/road trip and great way to spend spring break!

Love all of your pics, especially getting to see John and Cindy's farewell party. We felt so bad we couldn't be there! You had lots of fun adventures in march, in spite of the weather!
