"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

King Cake Party

Monday night we had our annual "King Cake" party. I guess I was hurrying around too much and distracted, but I forgot to take pictures, so this photo of a King Cake will have to do. The picture looks better than my King cake anyway. John and Cindy brought Halibut (that we fried and served with lime), fruit salad, and broccoli salad, Missy and Jedd and kids brought mashed potatoes (what else?) and coconut cupcakes, and I made fried chicken, gravy, collard greens, biscuits, hush puppies and King Cake. Does that sound southern or what Devin and Sarah??
We ate and then John told us stories from his Stake Conference which was the previous weekend. They had two visiting general authorities stay at their home, Elder Merrill (Area authority from Twin Falls) and Elder Claudio Costa from the presidency of the Seventy. John and Cindy said it was a spiritual feast and had a wonderful experience. They said that Elder Costa especially LOVED to tell stories and was like an "Everready bunny" with lots of energy. John related some of the stories and they were very faith promoting.
Lastly, we served the King cake and Jared found the "baby Jesus" under his piece, so that means Missy will get to host the King Cake party next year!!!

Way to bring in the Southern love! I need to stop reading your blog when I'm hungry. But then I'd never read it. Oh well.

Sounds delicious!! All I ever do these days is eat out and eat a lot. It's got to stop!! I don't fit into my pants anymore, I swear, if I even look at food I gain a pound these days.

I want to hear the stories! It sounds like lots of fun! It looks like the odds are on Missy hosting it most years- she's got the most King Cake eaters!
