I haven't had anything too exciting to blog about recently, but last Sunday morning I watched Music and the Spoken Word and was touched by this message:
"How often do we rush through our lives, stacking our appointments back to back, and miss the simple joys that surround us all? It could be the echo of laughter from a playground, the sway of a tree in the breeze, or even the gleam of a polished pair of shoes. Simple joys are everywhere—all we have to do is take a moment to find them.
Appreciation for simple things is a direct path to happiness. Look around in your own home—a picture on the wall, a cherished book, a clean countertop, a vase of flowers. Gratitude for these little touches can lighten our step and bring a smile to our faces.
By slowing down, by savoring all the senses, and by deliberately searching for the good, we can find dozens of simple pleasures that lift our spirits and remind us how blessed we are. Enjoyment of life need not happen in sweeping events of fun and entertainment; it can surround us every day as we seek and appreciate the simple joys of life."

Here's one of my simple joys and favorite fall sounds. We finally can turn off the air conditioner in September so I leave the sliding screen door open and love to listen to the fountain that flows into our pool. The pool is too cold to swim in now, but I just love the peaceful sounds that come from our fountain.
Here's another random happening at our house. Taylor has reached 6'2". Sorry Devin, he's outgrown you! We keep track of Taylor's growth on a pillar in the garage and he's grown at least an inch since last February. Here's proof:

I love this post and SO agree- the simple joys are the best. In these troubled times, it's there we find peace and JOY!
Congrats, Taylor!
I keep telling myself that I am enjoying the journey. Thanks for the reminder.
That is a beautiful message!!! I just want to know how Taylor got so tall!? I think he can beat up on Conrad now!!
Thanks for the thoughts-it made me think of the little things I love. Right now it's crepes, can you tell it's time for dinner? Better go whip some up. Wow, I can't believe little Tay bug isn't so little anymore. ;)
Beans!! You're just sprouting right up. Stop it. I love being able to listen to the outdoors too, now that it's cool enough to have the balcony open. Even though the changing of seasons is a quaterly thing, it's always so exciting and special.
