"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Trip to New England/Canada

We just returned from a fantastic fall trip. I was able to spend a couple of days with Sara in Philadelphia before Tom flew out and joined us. Sara, Lucy and I went on a beautiful fall walk, ate yummy Indian food, went to a pumpkin patch, and drove to Hershey and did the factory tour with Lucy's favorite free "canny". Thursday night Tom arrived and we got up on Friday morning and drove into NYC. One of my favorite memories is of Sara driving in downtown Manhattan with a million pedestrians, and cars and bullying a bus. It was amazing, but we made it to our hotel and parked the car and started sight seeing. It was fun showing Tom around New York. We went to Time's Square, Central Park, walked the Brooklyn bridge at night, the United Nations, Grand Central station, Amy Ruth's for soul food, Wall Street, Battery Park, ground zero, Canal street and China town shopping, and "Wicked" on Broadway. We had a great time with Sara, Jon and Lucy. Sunday, we went to church in Queens, then drove out to Shea Stadium and Flushing Meadows where they play the US Open Tennis tourney. Then Sara and Jon dropped us off at the port for our cruise. We had a wonderful cruise and were able to relax and enjoy our time with Tom's family. We visited Newport, RI, Boston, MA, Bar Harbor, Maine, St. John, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia. We had great weather for the most part and ate way too much food, but it was a wonderful trip. We got back from the cruise on Sunday, took a cab to the Chinatown bus that then took us to Philly where we got to spend another day with Sara, Jon, and Lucy before we flew back to Boise. What a great vacation and so fun to spend time with family!

Please don't wake me today because I am still re-living it all. Let's see, last week at this time I was somewhere in Maine . . .

Actually, you never made it off the ship in Maine as I recall.... It was a GREAT trip though!! I think the NYC trip will live on as one of my most favorite memories living back East. We had a blast. I'm SO glad you were able to come, and Lucy just can't get enough of you guys, but next time you better bring "Taylo" or else!!:)

How fun to see all your pics! It looks like you had a blast and I'm so, so, so sad I missed out on the NYC trip. I think we should plan a girls' weekend in NYC sometime. Wouldn't that be fun?!?
