"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

1st "Rock" Picnic

For Easter Dad gave me the cutest Easter basket filled with candy filled plastic eggs, silk flowers and rocks. Yes, rocks. I wasn't sure what purpose the rocks had until I picked one up. Dad had carefully washed each one and written on the bottom things like "Tom + Joan", "I Love Joan", T + J, etc., etc., He then explained that each time we venture out on a picnic, campout, or other outdoor adventure, we will take a rock and leave it where we visited. Isn't that so cute?? I think it was the most romantic gift I've ever gotten. So on Friday, we took our first "rock" picnic. We drove out to Canyon County, via Kuna to the Owyhee mountain high dessert to Celebration Petroglyph county park. It was a beautiful spring day, even warmer than in Boise and we had a delicious picnic and then deposited the rock.
After our picnic we took a hike through all the rock petroglyphs.

The Indians used to winter in this area along the Snake River and in the days before "texting" would carve symbols into the rocks. Some of the "petroglyphs" date back supposedly 10,000 years. It was really interesting and fun to hike around and see all the indian writings. It was a very appropriate resting place for our "rock" among all the others!

You didn't rate it! It looks like a 10 to me.
What a sweet, romantic husband you have!

Tom!! Impressive! Did anyone coach him on that 'rock' idea? Did he read about it in some Good Housekeeping magazine in a doctor's office or something. I mean, that is the kind of stuff that dreams are made of! Lucky Joan. : ) Ali

We decided our picnic rated a 9 I think. The company was a 10, but the location wasn't exotic, and the food was just average :)

Dad definitely desreves major props for the rock idea. I think I did go to that park in 6th grade for EFT. Who lived in Idaho 10,000 years ago??

What a fun idea--that IS romantic for you who absolutely loves picnics. So you had guaranteed outings with all those rocks, great idea.
