"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Snowy Conference weekend in Sun Valley

We spent Conference weekend up in Sun Valley with our neighbors the Manwaring's. The Manwaring's own a timeshare in Elkhorn and they invited us to join them for the weekend. Tom, Patricia and Jed and I drove up on Friday afternoon. After getting unpacked, we went on a 13 mile bikeride from Elkhorn around to Sun Valley and then into Ketchum and back around to Elkhorn. It was a chilly fall afternoon but we were prepared and dressed warmly. Tom had a flat tire so he had to turn around midway and walk his bike back to get fixed, but the 3 of us went the rest of the way.
Taylor brought Hunter and his friend Braden up on Saturday morning. We listened to Conference and in between sessions went to a great "garage sale" at the Community school. Tom took the boys on a mountain bike ride that afternoon. It sounded like a challenging ride and I know Patricia was dying to go so she could outride all the guys but she decided to stay at the condo with me and watch the afternoon session of Conference. We took the bus to downtown Ketchum after Conference and shopped around and met the guys for dinner at the Burger Grill. The guys went to Priesthood meeting and we finished shopping and then watched the BSU football game.
Sunday morning we woke up to 3 inches of snow on the ground. It had started to snow Saturday afternoon and by Sunday morning it was a blizzard. We watched Conference via the internet, then cleaned up the condo, packed up and drove home. We were able to pick up KSL radio and listen to Conference as we drove. I absolutely LOVED Elder Holland's testimony of the Book of Mormon and also Elder Brent Nielsen as he spoke about missionary work, especially involving Russia :) We drove through a blizzard all the way from Fairfield to Mountain Home. There was probably 6" of snow on the ground. It was crazy to have such a big winter storm in early October. It must be due to "global warming" or something ;) Regardless of the weather, we had a great time hanging with the Boogieman-warings in Sun Valley!
