"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

A Morris Thanksgiving

We had a quieter Thanksgiving this year. No trips to South Carolina. We had to stay home because Taylor had basketball practice on the Wednesday before and the Friday after Thanksgiving and then a game on Saturday night. We had Grandma and Grandpa Charlie and Tom's nieces and nephews and their families over for dinner. There were 15 of us for Thanksgiving dinner and the food turned out great. I "brined" the turkey this year and I would definitely do it again. It gave the turkey so much flavor to marinate it all night in a mixture of salt, soy sauce, honey, molasses, garlic and some spices. The turkey was so moist and flavorful.
Tom and Taylor played in a "turkey bowl" in the morning and then in a pickup basketball game in the evening so they were a little sore, but it was a fun and relaxing day and weekend where we could truly take time to count our blessings.

Here's a shout out to the YSA branch. They made these yummy caramel apples and dipped pretzels for a Relief Society activity. They tasted as good as they looked :) I can't wait to make some more for Christmas.

I'm going to have to try that brining thing. Will you send me the recipe? What do you have big enough to put it in? I'm glad you had a happy Thanksgiving.

Looks fun! Too bad there were no trips back East for Thanksgiving! Maybe next year?

How in the world would you brine such a large turkey? It sounds really good. Happy Thanksgiving!
