"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Grandma Joanie strikes again!
I just returned from another "Grandma Joanie" trip to visit Sara, Jon, Lucy and Zachy for the last time in Phillydelphia (as Lucy calls it). I had such a fun trip as usual. Jon, Sara and the kids are great hosts. We did so many fun things. We got to have a "girl" day with just Lucy, Sara, and I and had a fun lunch at Machismo Burrito in Manyunk and then headed to the Aquarium in Camden, NJ, and then stopped for cupcakes at Brown Betty's in downtown Philly. Wednesday we had a beautiful spring walk down at Valley Green and went to a diner that was featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" and I got to work out with Sara at her YMCA step class. Thursday, we took a picnic, with authentic Italian hoagies to a great park complete with 3 story castle. It was a beautiful day for a picnic. We enjoyed Indian food for dinner that night at Aman's. I left early Friday morning and took the train down to Richmond to spend the rest of my vacation with Sarah, Devin and Eva.
Sarah and Eva picked me up from the train station and took me to lunch on Carey street where we had delicious southern mac and cheese. We spent the afternoon at Maymont (a Victorian estate complete with beautiful gardens and a petting zoo). We picked Devin up from work and went to dinner at another great southern food restaurant "The Hilltop Cafe". Saturday we spent the morning at the Richmond Zoo. We had such a fun time seeing all the animals and actually feeding the giraffes. That night Devin took us on a tour of some of the beautiful homes in Richmond. Sunday we went to church and then took a picnic (rated 9.5 because it was a little chilly) out to the Shenandoah Valley. It was a beautiful day and a breathtaking drive. Monday, Sarah and Eva took me to the Richmond Botanical garden and we had fun wandering through the gardens and letting Eva play in the children's garden. Sarah drove me to Raleigh later that afternoon and I flew back to Boise without any complications. It was so fun being with my east coast kids and grandkids, but I know Taylor and Tom were glad to get Grandma Joanie back to Boise. Thanks again Cardon's and Morris's for being such great hosts!
