"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

I'm True Blue!

Tom and I were asked to be the Alumni Chair and co-Chair for the Boise chapter of the BYU alumni association and this last weekend they held an Alumni Chapters Conference at BYU. I was reluctant to go because Tom couldn't go with me. He had a previously scheduled steelhead fishing trip to Oregon with his Dad, brother and nephew. That left me to drive to Provo and spend the weekend in a seminar. I opted to stay with Patty rather than in the hotel that was provided. I got there Thursday night and was able to take Taylor shopping and then to dinner at the Smokehouse (just for you Whitney). Whitney used to be a server at the Smokehouse in Provo.
The next morning I had classes starting at 8 am so I headed to campus. We had our seminar in the Hinckley Alumni Center and it is such a beautiful building inside and out.
I met so many nice people and I got so many great ideas. They had awesome speakers and presentations. For lunch on Friday we got to take a Cougar to lunch at the Cannon Center, so I got to take my own Cougar, Taylor. It was fun seeing and eating at the newly remodeled Cannon Center. Taylor doesn't have it so bad. The food was actually really good.
Patty joined me for my afternoon classes and then went to dinner with me. They hosted a dinner for us at The Legend's Grill. It was fun walking on the BYU campus with Patty afterwards.
Saturday morning I again had classes from 8 am to 12 noon. After the seminar ended I shopped at the BYU bookstore, then met Taylor at the Alumni Center for the Alumni Tailgate party.
Tom Holmoe, the BYU Athletic Director, spoke to us while we ate and then the BYU cheerleaders showed up to get us all jazzed up for the big football game. Taylor sat with me at the football game and unfortunately the Cougars lost to Nevada, but it was fun being at the game and enjoying the beautiful day.

I was so glad I was able to attend the Conference. I'm sold on the mission of the BYU Alumni Association which is to connect BYU students and alumni for Good in the community and throughout the world.

Looks like a great time. Taylor looks older. I think next time you'd better come a few more hours down south and visit us!
