After church on Sunday, Devin took Tom and I on a great tour of Richmond.
When we got home Sarah made us a delicious Sunday dinner, and we celebrated Eva's 2nd birthday with a aquamarine birthday cake.
I don't think Eva is a big fan of birthday cakes,
but at least this year she didn't throw up on it.
Monday we went out to the Shenandoah valley for a picnic and drive.
Devin and Tom went on a beautiful hike
then headed off to DC for the Boise State-Virginia Tech football game. Sarah and I drove home through little towns and stopped at James Madison's plantation and home. It was fun to see the home of the Father of the Constitution.
Devin and Tom had a fantastic time at the game. They walked around and tailgated with the players' families and scored a bunch of free food. Then had great seats for a great game. The Bronco's are amazing, they know how to win in any situation and love dramatic finishes.
Tuesday, Tom and Devin went golfing and after Sarah's Dr.'s appointment, we headed to the Richmond Children's museum. What a fun place for Eva to play and not too far from their home.
That evening Devin taught us how to play "Cornhole". The first time I heard about "Cornhole" was from Shonna and Blake. I guess "Cornhole" is quite the rage on the east coast. They play it at all the Tailgate parties. I have to say I have quite the "Cornhole" skills. I scored 15 points in one toss.
Wednesday we headed out to Virginia Beach to enjoy the ocean. It was the perfect day for the beach, no crowds, warm water, plenty of dolphins swimming off-shore. Eva loved it. She was so cute running in and out of the waves. It was a great day.
Sarah, Eva and I went to a great park and walked on Thursday and we shopped at all the stores we love to shop at, ie., Trader Joe's, Tom Leonard's, TJ MAXX, Ross, etc.
We walked across the bridge to Belle Island after Devin got off work,
then headed to Buzz and Ned's for some outrageous pulled pork. No wonder he beat Bobby Flay, it really was the best pulled pork we've ever eaten.
Friday we went out to Charlottesville to check out the sites. We ate breakfast at Tom's all-time favorite "Waffle House". He LOVES that place and begs us to go whenever we drive by a sign.
Eva got to pick her own apple off the tree at the apple orchard.
That afternoon, Tom and I checked out the Museum of the Confederacy and the White House of the Confederacy in downtown Richmond. The museum houses the largest collection of confederate memorabilia. It was fascinating learning more about all the confederate generals. We had a fantastic tour guide that took us through Jefferson Davis' white house.
We picked Devin up from work and went to dinner at a great Vietnamese restaurant.
Thanks Devin and Sarah for being such great hosts. Poor Sarah at 9 months pregnant was so willing to entertain her in-laws. We had a great trip and can't wait to go back.
