I look forward to spring break each March. I love getting a break from teaching piano lessons and heading south to Utah to visit my family and enjoy some warmer weather.
I didn't find the warmer weather in Provo, but I did find some family. I met Whitney on Friday afternoon at the new outlet mall in Alpine. We shopped and then went out to dinner at the
Bombay House (Sara's all time favorite Indian food). It was delicious!
I went shopping with Patty on Saturday at the mall in Provo. I had to take some pictures of the lovely snow that followed me from Idaho. I've decided that there is a "Joan curse" because every time I go to Utah, there is a blizzard.
Thankfully the snow didn't stick to the roads, but it was a sloppy mess driving through it!
Patty and I had a fun day shopping and we met Whitney for lunch at Mimi's Cafe, then we headed back to Patty's house to do some family history stuff.
I went to Whitney's ward on Sunday. After church Whitney made a yummy Sunday dinner of Banh mi sandwiches and cute Easter cupcakes.
Monday morning I drove to Whitney's school and volunteered in her classroom. It was so fun seeing her teach her 5th graders. She is an awesome teacher and I could tell that her students love her. It was fun working with some of her "infamous" students one on one.
Shonna and her cute kids drove down from Logan and met me at noon in Provo and we drove down to St. George together on Monday afternoon. Kay had a delicious dinner waiting for us.
Tuesday morning I got to hike up Webb hill. I love that hike and looking out over St. George and the surrounding area. The weather was perfect!
Tuesday was kind of a disastrous day. I lost my Fitbit on my hike and my car battery died. Thankfully Kay and her AAA membership came to my rescue and I was able to get my battery and my Fitbit replaced. We had a fun afternoon of shopping with Pam in Santa Clara.
On Wednesday morning Kay's singing group, the Keynotes, performed at a couple of Assisted Living Centers. It was so fun to see them perform. They were great!
Lilly and and Shonna were enthusiastic members of the audience.
John and Cindy made it to St. George in time for the Keynote's second performance.
Kay had quite a fan club with Pam, John and Cindy, Joan and Shonna and kids!
We all went out to lunch after the performances at a yummy Mediterranean restaurant.
That afternoon, I drove down to Las Vegas and did a little shopping at Trader Joe's and then listened to the BYU vs. Southern Mississippi basketball game on my iPhone while I waited for Tom's flight. I picked him up, we checked into our hotel, and then had a great French dinner at the Paris Hotel.
That evening, we walked over to the Bellagio. Beautiful!
On Thursday we drove back to St. George and Tom and John went golfing. We had a fun dinner at the Pasta Factory that night.
On Friday, all the guys went golfing for the Gabrielsen Open and Kay, Shonna and I went to the St. George Art Festival. The weather was perfect, it was actually kind of hot. It was so fun to see all the beautiful paintings, photography, pottery and jewlery.
That night was the Ancestor dinner at Pam and Roger's beautiful home.
The tables were set beautifully!
And the food was a work of art.
The theme was Scandinavian and everything was delicious!
Whitney and her friend Ruth Ann drove down from Provo for Easter weekend and made it just in time for dinner :)
We played a "get to know you" game after dinner.
It was very fun being together.
Whitney and I hiked Webb Hill one last time on Saturday morning,
and then we took a picnic to the park. Shonna's Blake joined us late on Friday night so he could participate in all the Easter festivities.
There was an Easter egg hunt,
and of course the kids had to dye Easter eggs. Shonna and Whitney entertained us with some piano and flute music,
and Aunt Kay made us a delicious Easter feast complete with ham, potatoes, asparagus, lemon fruit salad, homemade rolls, and scotcharoos!
Tom and I reluctantly left St. George and drove to Provo on Sunday morning and went to Whitney's Sacrament meeting and then we drove the rest of the way back to Boise.
Thanks Kay and Ken for hosting the "Trasher family" for another wonderful Spring Break odyssey!

What a great spring break you had, Joan! You did so many fun things! You got some great pics last week and I copied some of them onto my blog. Thank you. It was good to get together and have fun together. Hope Whitney works it out with her principal for next year.I'm sure she is a great teacher.
