"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Beating the January Blahs!

Boise is stuck in another month long "inversion" where the sun never shines so happily Whitney and her friends decided to come to Boise to brighten our MLK weekend. Whitney, Ruth Ann and Keira arrived late Friday night so on Saturday morning we got up bright and early and drove up the mountains and out of the inversion to the beautiful blue sky in Cascade and Tamarack resort.
We rented a pair of cross country skis for Whitney and company and bought some cross country ski passes and then took turns cross country skiing on the groomed trails and snow shoeing.
We had so much fun!!

Isn't the mountain man so cute with his snow shoes??
I had to take a "selfie". It was such a beautiful day.

It was the first snow shoeing/cross country skiing experience for Alabama born Ruth Ann but she did great!

We of course took a picnic on our adventure and it was fantastic.
Nothing better than having a picnic in the snow.
After our snow adventure, we drove to Gold Fork Hot Springs

and enjoyed a dip in the very crowded hot pool. It felt divine!
Sunday evening Keira showed off her pie making skills and made a coconut cream pie (Tom's favorite) and a pecan pie (my favorite)

Monday morning we met Trex for breakfast at Goldy's cafe in downtown Boise.
Then we walked over to the Capitol building so Keira could get a picture inside of the Capitol rotunda. She was trying to check off one more thing from
The 75 Things All Idahoans Should Try at Least Once
(click on the link and see how many you've done)
Tom had done 49 of them, I think I had 39. The rest are on our bucket list!
We drove out to Missy's just in time for Anderson's 4th birthday party.
It was so fun seeing him with all his little super hero friends.
Missy threw quite the birthday bash!

Then it was time for Whitney and company to drive back to Provo. We sadly bid them farewell. We LOVE it when Whitney comes to visit and can't wait until the next time. She definitely brightens our days and helps us beat the January blahs!

What a fun weekend! Ken and I will have to check out that list. The problem is, I don't remember what I have and haven't done. I need your memory to tell me if we did them as kids.

Missy told us that Whitney and friends came to Anderson's birthday party and it made it more fun to have them there. Your snow shoe adventure looked invigorating! Salt Lake has an ugly inversion going on now, too. Makes me glad to be in sunny St. George, but not so much in August!
