"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Trasher's reunite Virginia style!

We arrived in Richmond just in time for a delicious Christmas dinner.
Sarah had a gourmet Raclette dinner planned with different cheeses and meats and vegetables.  It was so yummy! After dinner, we had Christmas again with the Morris family and watched Monster University.

Devin and Taylor in their "Arsenal" jerseys after watching the Arsenal soccer match earlier that morning. I like the photo bomb Tom~
On Thursday, Devin and Taylor babysat and Tom, Sarah and I drove to Colonial Williamsburg to check out the Christmas decorations and after Christmas sales at the outlet mall.
I love how they use all natural decorations like apples, pine bows, berries, etc.

Sara and Whitney and the kids arrived later on Thursday afternoon and the kids were so excited to be together.
We loaded up the cars and took a Tacky lights tour.
Richmond is famous for it's crazy light displays.  To be included on the tour you have to have at least 40,000 lights on your house.
The kids loved it!

On Friday we took everyone to lunch at Q Barbecue (Taylor and Tom haven't ever met a pulled pork sandwich they haven't liked)

After lunch we hit the ice skating rink. It was the first time for the kids. Lucy and Zach LOVED it.  I'm not sure it was Eva's favorite activity but she tried it.
Lucy got pretty good at it and could take off on her own after a while.
Zachy on the other hand, loved to be pulled around by Taylor, Devin and Tom.

Yeah for Eva!

That night for dinner we had our first Trasher family "Chopped" competition.
Taylor and Whitney teamed up to prepare the appetizer course.
They had to include, cornmeal, coconut oil, turkey burger, and cornicions.

They made a delicious hush puppy and turkey slider with Taylor's special recipe barbecue sauce. It was surprisingly good.
Next up was team Devin and Sarah. They were tasked with making the main course using chicken breast, barbecue sauce, sweet potatoes and chowmein noodles.

Sara and Jon were team dessert and had to use coconut milk, apples, graham cracker pie crust and candy cane and chocolate coated pretzel sticks.
Sara made a coconut caramel apple topped cheese pie with pretzel bits.
It was a little sweet, but very creative.

That afternoon we all went to the park. It was a beautiful day and the kids played on the toys while Tom, Devin and Taylor played soccer with a bunch of guys from Turkey (yeah really they were from Turkey).

Monday morning we finally got our Waffle House breakfast.

Tom, Devin and Taylor went golfing and the girls went downtown to the Jefferson Hotel to check out the Christmas decorations including Santa's sleigh made entirely of gingerbread. We then did a little shopping.

That afternoon we said our goodbyes and Whitney, Taylor, Tom and I drove to Raleigh so we could catch our flight home to Boise early on Tuesday morning.
We got to Raleigh and checked into our motel and then headed downtown and had dinner at "The Pit".  It is one of the most famous pit barbecue restaurants in North Carolina.
The food lived up to it's billing!
Yum, y'all.

Thanks Devin and Sarah for hosting our Trasher reunion.
It was such a blessing being all together for Christmas.
