"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Bread, Milk and a Sleigh Ride

It's pretty boring around here during an "inversion" so we have to make our own fun! Last weekend the High Priest's group in our ward hosted an "Old-Fashioned Bread and Milk" social. We played antiques trivia (they had pictures of all different types of farm tools and other long lost items, and you had to guess what they were), we danced the Virginia Reel, and the kids did the Hokey Pokey
and for refreshments they served all different types of homemade bread, cornbread, honey, butter, jam, milk, rice pudding and bread pudding.  It is just what we all needed to put a smile back on our faces.
Tom bought me a "sleigh ride" for a Christmas gift, so Saturday morning we drove up to Garden Valley and enjoyed some blue sky.

It was so nice to feel the sun on our face.
We tried to go cross country skiing afterwards, but as you can tell from the pictures, the Idaho mountains are experiencing a lack of snow. Those darn high pressure systems build up over Idaho and prevent any new storms from coming in and dumping snow in our mountains.  Thus the blue sky and sun in the mountains and no snow and inversion in the valleys. We enjoyed a delicious picnic none the less and then headed back to the gray skies in the valley.

I love the bread and milk social idea! What a fun gift and you used it at a great time escaping the inversion!

Inversions are so strange- the way it can be so sunless and gloomy miday in the valley, then bright and clear in the mountains. I know SLC area has been experiencing the same thing. Thank goodness you can escape to the mountains! And that social sounds fun!

We should have just put wheels on our skis kind of like they did on the sleigh/wagon. Is it just me or is my face starting to look really old in those pictures. I think I'm almost dead.

What a fun idea for a party! You have creative high priests. I was going to ask how they did the sleigh with no snow, and then I read Tom's comment. No, Tom, you're not almost dead.
