Last weekend we drove down to Utah to spend time with our Provo kids and to celebrate Whitney's birthday.
We got there just in time to take Whitney out to dinner. Taylor's social life took priority (he was on a date) so he missed out. After dinner we went to a true BYU favorite "The Creamery on 9th" for some ice cream. Isn't she a cute birthday girl?!
Tom took Taylor skiing up at Snowbird on Saturday. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and they skied in a blizzard. Whitney and I on the other hand, had a wonderful time. We went SHOPPING in Salt Lake. We missed you Patty. Whitney was willing to take me to Steinmart, but because it was her birthday, I didn't make her. We had lunch at a yummy Pizza place in Salt Lake.
Here's the tired skier before we left for our big Saturday night date.
We first went to Zupa's for dinner
and because Taylor was still hungry (after all that skiing) we had 2nd dinner at McDonald's. This is a "McDirty" made famous by Colton Grange. It is a Mcdouble with a McChicken stuffed inside, bun and all. It's a good thing he's young :)
At 7 pm we had tickets to the art exhibit at the BYU Museum of Art
"Sacred Gifts".
Oh my what a wonderful job BYU has
Oh my what a wonderful job BYU has
done putting this exhibit together.
I strongly encourage anyone and everyone to attend this amazing exhibition.
Not only do they have works of art from Carl Bloch but they also have Henrich Hofman, and Frans Schwartz. It is a miracle that the painting's owners (mostly churches in New York, and Scandinavia) have lent these paintings to BYU and BYU has done a fantastic job with the iPad app that goes along with the exhibit. Download it and check it out if you can't make it to the exhibit.

After attending the exhibit, we walked up to the Marriott Center for the BYU vs. St. Mary's basketball game.
It was an awesome game, even sitting in the nosebleed section, mostly because BYU won!
The student section was "rocking".
I love this true blue BYU fan!
Go Cougars!!
The pregame introductions:
Final Score!
The game didn't start until 9 pm so it was after midnight by the time we got back to Whitney's apartment and went to bed. Thanks Whitney for hosting us. We got up early, 6 am, and drove back to Boise in time for Tom to conduct Fast and Testimony meeting at 1 pm. It was a wonderful weekend with our kids.
It's a good thing Whitney's birthday was last weekend, because it is a
SNOW DAY today in Boise, NO SCHOOL, and more snow is on the way.
We are supposed to get 5 more inches tonight and tomorrow.
That darn ground hog, we're ready for spring!

Happy Birthday, Whitney! What a fun weekend with your Cougars! I miss going to basketball games - USU, BYU, I'd go to any! Mindy, Jeff and Jack went skiing on Monday and it was gorgeous! They had planned to go the Friday before, but the weather was lousy. It's always random whether the weather will cooperate!
What a great weekend! I'm sure that Whitney and Taylor were happy to see you both! I do miss our yearly trip to Steinmart- I'll bet Whitney secretly misses it too! How fun to go to the BYU game!
Happy Birthday Chief! That McDirty looks....scary, to say the least. He needs to check his cholesterol. The BYU game looks fun, and I am definitely not jealous of your snow anymore. Sure you're still glad that inversion finally went away??
Happy Birthday Whitney! What a fun weekend, I'm sure Whitney was glad you came to celebrate with her.
i LOVE Steinmart. I didn't know you did. I also love Whitney's cute necklace. You make me want to go to that art display. Maybe I will on one of my trips through over the next few months. Lucky you to go to the BYU game.
