"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Gray Skies are gonna clear up

Boise in January is not our favorite time of year.
We usually get snow in December and then a high pressure system sets in right over Idaho in January and the cold air stays trapped next to the ground
and the warm air rises and a dreaded "inversion" occurs.
This picture was taken at Bogus Basin ski resort above Boise
where there are clear skies.
Fog and gray skies are all you see in Boise.

So, to escape the inversion, we headed to higher ground.
We hit the road and drove up to Cascade for a little
winter getaway.
We finally found the sun!

We put on a "Happy Face", since it was "smile day Friday",
(a new Instagram holiday that Taylor and Coltin invented),
and we took this picture of Tom with his new "galley wench"
Saturday we drove up to McCall and had some fun
cross country skiing at Ponderosa State Park.

Aren't the trees pretty covered in the "hoar frost"?

We had a fun day and then headed back to the gray skies
but as the song says
  • "Gray skies are gonna clear up
    Put on a happy face
Wipe off the clouds and cheer up
    Put on a happy face"
I think we'll survive until the weather warms up or at least until we have another getaway.

Oh, what a cute and clever post! Those trees are gorgeous. You look so good, Joan with your new haircut. Okay, I'm joining instagram . . . as soon as I figure out how.

Cute post! We have the same thing going on here now - tomorrow is supposed to bring a storm front to blow it out of the valley. You are so good to go cross country skiing - my very fit sister!
