"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

End of April Adventures!

With Sara and Jon moving to Colorado to start their dental practice in June, they bought me a plane ticket to fly out and help Sara find a house. I flew to Denver last week and met Sara at the airport. She rented a car and we drove directly to Cafe Rio.  That girl loves her some Cafe Rio! She will be so happy to live somewhere that has Cafe Rio. Afterwards we drove to Parker and visited Jon's brother Jeremy and his wife Kylene. Jeremy and Jonathon will be sharing a dental practice.  Jeremy took us on a tour of their office in Castlerock.
These signs announcing Jonathan's upcoming arrival are posted on the windows and at the Reception desk.
Here's a picture of the Dental office. We visited at night so unfortunately it's dark and you can't see it very well.
It's called Clock Tower Dental.
We house hunted all day with a realtor on Wednesday with pretty discouraging results. We saw 8-10 houses and nothing looked very promising, over priced, dirty, pet hair, in need of lots of fix up, etc. The housing market in the Denver area is going gang busters and houses sell quickly.
The last house we looked at had been listed the day before. Sara liked it so they made an offer that night and it was accepted the next day.  The timeline for occupying the house fits their needs perfectly.  They will move in on June 19.
Here's the house in Parker Colorado.

Here's the flyer from the house.
It needs some new paint and carpet but it is a cute house with a basement in a great neighborhood and it will meet their needs well.
We celebrated that night by going to dinner at Maggianos.
It was delicious!
This chocolate cake we shared for dessert was divine!
We met Sara's college roommate, Laura and her husband for dinner.
Laura teaches school in Castlerock.
We both flew back home the next day.
It was a quick but very productive trip.
On Friday, our ward hosted a
"Missionary Work around the World" ward activity.
Each auxiliary and quorum in the ward selected a country and featured that country and the missionary work that goes on in that country and then ward members wandered around and got their passports stamped at each country.
The Young Women  chose Italy
Here we are at our booth dressed as Chefs.
We served bruschetta.  Recognize that tablecloth?
California
Korea
Japan
Germany and Switzerland
Philippines
The Elders and ward missionaries from our ward sponsored the
Boise Idaho mission booth.
The last booth was for all the missionaries serving from our ward.
Everyone wrote them letters in order to get their passports stamped.
Once you got all 8 of your stamps, you turned in your passport and got a raffle ticket . There was a drawing for a trip around the world.
No actually just an IHOP gift card but it was fun nonetheless.
Saturday morning, the Young Men and Young women met at the Family History Center where they learned how to do Family history.
It was a great activity. 5 of the youth found names to take to the temple.
Last but not least, we got Taylor home from BYU for the summer last week.
He went to New York City for a week the week after finals for an Investment banking seminar and then drove to Boise. He has an internship here with a Private Equity group. It is so fun having him home.
We went to Eva's soccer match on Saturday and afterwards we hit up
Fanci Freeze for a treat.
Yum a Boston Shake - Shake on the bottom, sundae on the top
Our neighbor's the Bullocks were also enjoying the beautiful day and having an ice cream treat.
One last picture from my Monday morning walk.
Name that bird and I'll treat you to a Boston shake.
It's been a crazy April but that's how we roll.

Wow, Joan, you have been busy! What a darling house you guys found for Cardons. Is it anywhere around Highlands? That's where Mindy and Jeff lived. They loved Colorado! That ward missionary activity sounds fun and clever, and I have no idea what that bird is, but I'll bet Ken does!

Yellow-headed blackbird. I'm on my way for a Boston shake. Love Sara's new house. I do recognize that tablecloth. How appropriate that the picnic lover inherited it!
