"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Ringing in the New Year!

We all headed up to Donnelly after Christmas to ring in the new year.
Some of our friends have a cabin by Tamarack ski resort and they are so generous to let us stay there.
We got to Donnelly on Wednesday late in the afternoon and saw this beautiful sunset.
There is so much snow this year!
Devin, Sarah and family and Taylor headed up earlier in the day so they got to check out the sledding hill in McCall.
They had a wonderful time but it was cold!
We met them for dinner at My Father's Place.

The next day, Sarah and Eva went skiing at Tamarack,

while the rest of us either snow shoed, cross country skied or watched
baby Tommy and Sophie .
The snow shoers
Whitney was quite entertaining when she fell
 What a good looking bunch!
Taylor and I took off on a cross country ski adventure.
It was beautiful as we went through the forest and then onto a frozen
Cascade Lake.
I only fell through the ice once.

Later that afternoon was the big Clemson vs. Oklahoma
football game.
These two fans were decked out in their Clemson gear.
We had to stream the game on Taylor's laptop because the cabin didn't have cable or satellite TV, but the internet worked and the Tigers won so Devin and Tommy were happy guys!
That afternoon we went hooky bobbin behind Devin and Sarah's minivan

There was lots of snow outside the cabin to play in for Eva and Sophie

and a nice warm fire inside to warm up by.
We ate finger foods for New Year's Eve and played lots of games
and at 8 pm, we brought in the new year with some pots and pan lid banging.

Whitney's flight left Boise for Phoenix at noon on New Year's day so she and I got up early on Friday morning and headed down the mountains back to Boise so she could make her flight.
Devin, Tom and Taylor headed to Tamarack for a beautiful day of skiing and Sarah and the kids got one more day to play in the snow.
It was a great way to ring in the new year!

Hookey bobbin? I haven't heard that term. You fell through the ice??? Scary. What a fun time you had. I'm so glad.

Just reading that makes me tired. No wonder I never made it past 11 pm that night.

That sunset that greeted you when you arrived is so beautiful! How fun to spend New Year's in a cozy, warm cabin with the beautiful snow all around and of course some of your grandkids! It looks like you all had fun indoors and out!
