"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Pre-Christmas Festivities

I can't believe Christmas is over. This year's festivities seemed to fly by. We had a wonderful month leading up to the big day. Here are a few of our favorite activities.
We had a fun Ward Christmas party.
We've held a Christmas brunch on a Saturday the last few years and it has been really fun.  The YW were in charge of a craft activity for the Primary age kids.
We made paper plate snowmen and the kids seemed to love it!
We also reenacted the nativity.
It amazes me how reverent the crowd becomes during that production.
The YW were angels and sang "Angels We Have Heard on High"
We had a fun YW Christmas party in our basement.
We had a surprise baby shower for the 2nd counselor in the YW presidency and then played games and did white elephant gifts.
I love these girls.
This is the first time in 36 years of marriage that we haven't purchased a real Christmas tree. Tom was tired of the setup/takedown/needle mess of a real tree, so I purchased this 9 foot artificial tree this year.
I think it looks pretty good. I didn't miss the mess and the challenge of watering the tree everyday,  but I have to admit I missed the smell of the real thing.

We finally went to DQ and got Tom his blizzard from winning the NCAA bracket challenge last April.
He's won the last 4 out of 5 years so it is hard to keep track.
Devin and Sarah's ward put on a "live Nativity" every year for the Hidden Springs community.  This year the night of the nativity was a blizzard/messy/sleety/snowy night.
These two cuties were the Innkeeper's daughters in Bethlehem
They had a large tent set up to warm up in with hot chocolate and cookies
Tommy was the star of the show!
Sophie had her Christmas dance recital.
Here she is introducing herself
They did two dances

I love the bow at the end!
I had my Christmas piano recital on December 14.
Eva did a great job on The First Noel.
All of my piano students.  It's always nice to have the recital over with so I don't have to teach piano lessons for a few weeks.
Eva did a great job at her school's Christmas music performance
Whitney and Taylor got home the weekend before Christmas so on Tuesday before Christmas, we had a neighborhood progressive dinner.
Taylor posing with his buddy Chad and Chad's wife, Katy holding baby Tommy
Katy with Ashley and Addy Car and Ashley's husband Judd
Ashley, Evan Hathaway, Tom and Chad
Whitney was so happy to get to hold baby Tommy
My friend Melissa Hathaway with her granddaughter Avery
My friend Lorri Carr with her granddaughter Addy
Gotta love Taylor's crazy faces!

Sarah, Whitney,Tommy and I went to lunch in downtown Boise the day before Christmas Eve.  It was delicious
We went Christmas light looking later that night.
We got hot chocolate at Starbucks and then piled into Devin and Sarah's van for the tour.
This was baby Tommy's favorite place to relax, right under the Christmas tree so he could look at all the presents.

Next up, our Christmas celebrations

I think that we all (Pam, me, Kay and you) posted today! You are so good to host so many fun events for your young women - I am sure that they love you! Your house looks so cute all decorated for Christmas. What an awesome live nativity-that is a wonderful tradtion. Whitney looks so cute with baby Tommy and you have to love Taylor's colorful shirt and crazy expressions. I am sure that you enjoyed having them both home for the holidays.

Oh, my, what a lot of pre-Christmas activities with family and friends! So wonderful to have some grandkids around you to be involved with their fun and watch them grow! All of the parties looked so happy and Whitney and Taylor were loving being home with you guys, I could tell! That Nativity was so sweet, starring your grandkids. Love your pretty tree!

Your house looked very festive and I liked the fake tree, but I understand about missing the smell of a fresh one. Looks like your December was busy!!
