Christmas is over, the kids have flown the coop, the weather outside is frightful, what do you do? You throw a party I guess!
We invited the bishopric that serves with Tom over for dinner and games. We had such a fun time.
I made some delicious cheesy ham and potato chowder and some breadsticks, and our guests brought the side dishes.
Then we had a major competition as we played some
"Minute to Win it" games.
Unfortunately my team lost, but we had fun just the same.
Tom's Uncle Farrel passed away last week, so we made a quick trip to Utah for his funeral. He lived in Alpine, so we drove Charlie and Lucille down with us on Tuesday and we made it just in time for the viewing.
The funeral was on Wednesday morning, so we got up a little early so we could drive by Utah's newest temple in Provo.
Wow, it is so beautiful!
The funeral was very nice and the graveside service was at the cemetery in Alpine where there was lots of snow.
The military honors for veterans are always so impressive.
We enjoyed the luncheon put on by the Relief Society and then loaded up the car and drove back to Boise. It was a very busy couple of days but it was so good to see extended family and I know Charlie and Lucille were so glad to be chauffeured to Utah and back.
Look what I got for Christmas!
I've had the same side by side fridge for 16 years. My new french door stainless steel fridge and dishwasher are just what my kitchen needed to give it a little update.
I cannot believe how much more this fridge holds than my old one.
Last Saturday Tom took me on another outdoor adventure.
We were going to drive up to Cascade but the snow was falling fast and furious and we were a little concerned about the roads, so we opted to go up to Terrace Lakes Resort in Garden Valley.
We did a little cross country skiing
Had a picnic in the car, and then went snow shoeing
It was really snowing hard and the snow was really wet so it clung to our snowshoes. I got quite the workout. It felt like walking in mud and carrying 20 lbs on each foot.
It was very beautiful!
I'm off to Denver tomorrow for Grandma duty.
Sara is being induced on Sunday evening, January 24th
so I'll be able to spend another week with the Cardon clan helping Mom with baby number 4.
Prayers are appreciated!

I love your idea of how to cure the January blues by having a party! Your new appliances look nice and that cross country skiing sounds exhauting but the scenery looks gorgeous. Good luck with your new to arrive grandbaby; Mom and baby will be in our prayers.
Your dinner party and games sound and look so fun! Your shiny new kitchen appliances are so pretty and I am sure that you are enjoying that fridge - that style holds a lot of food! Sara will be in our prayers!
Love, love your new appliances! I had the same reaction when I got my new fridge. I couldn't believe the difference. I love your outdoor and party pictures. We have been praying for Sara and will continue to do so. Love you!
