We decided to celebrate October by having an Oktoberfest
since John and Cindy were home.
John and his friend from their mission who was visiting cooked the weinerschnitzel.
We had a delicious meal.
Devin and Sarah and family, and Missy and Jedd and family joined us.
Sarah brought delicious German desserts.
You have to be cool to sit at the kid's table.
Another highlight from October was our Sister Retreat at Patty's house.
I road down with John and Cindy to Elk Ridge.
We stopped at Siegfrieds Delicatessen in SLC a German lunch.
John and Hal joined Roger and Ken for a golf retreat in St. George.
We enjoyed going to the temple, shopping,
talking, eating,
and visiting Aunt Gary and Randee at their retirement home in Draper.
Tom and I look forward to taking a fall drive every October.
This year we headed to the Owyhee reservoir in Oregon.
It was a beautiful day and we saw some new country.
Tom even took a dip in the hot springs.
Too many people for me.
Tom and I enjoy going on a Sunday walk after church each week.
We wandered down to Hidden Springs in October to look at the scarecrows.
Anyone in the neighborhood is invited to decorate a scarecrow.
This one was our favorite.
(Ask me sometime to tell you the inside joke about Hidden Springs and the pineapple)
Or maybe IT from the Adams family.
Devin and Sarah went down to the BYU vs. Boise State football game
and also
got to take in a volleyball game.
These two Bower sisters play for BYU.
They are incredible volleyball players and super nice girls.
Their Dad is one of Tom's law partners so he arranged for
Eva and Sophie to chat with them after the match.
Just a picture from one of my morning hikes.
Aren't the trees gorgeous?!
One of our favorite October family activities is carving pumpkins.
Grandpa loves scooping out the guts.
The kids did a great job with their jackolanterns.
Cardon kid's Halloween costumes.
Aunt Gary had a treasure trove of some of our family pictures that she gave me to scan.
My beautiful Mama
My Mom was in a hiking club.

What a fun post! I love Tom and John in their German hats! I don't think I have ever been to the Owyhee Reservoir - it looks cool! Tom sure loves his hot springs!!
I love all those pictures you scanned - I don't think I have all of them - will you send them to me? How fun for Devin's girls to meet and get pictures with the BYU Volleyball star Bower girls! Sara's kids look so cute in their Halloween costumes!
Thanks for reminding me of our fun sister retreat! I am sure glad we got those pics from Gary and we had such a fun visit with Gary and Randy. And your family has so many fun outdoor adventures and you get such pretty pics. And such fun pics of your grandkids. Tom is quite the pumpkin carver - brings back memories of carving pumpkins for our little kids - so long ago!
