"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Whitney home for the Weekend
We had Whitney home for the weekend. It was so fun! Her good friend from her freshman year wanted to come to Boise to see her recently returned missionary this weekend, plus it was Oktoberfest at John and Cindy's Saturday night, so she came home! She didn't get home til late Friday night and Dad and I were up in McCall. (We snuck away for the night). Whitney "watched" Taylor til we got home on Sat. morning. Whitney and I spent the day shopping. I bit the bullet and bought a new double oven and new microwave. I swore I wouldn't cook for the holidays again until I had a double oven so I went and bought one with Whitney on Saturday. We also went to the mall, then came home and cooked for Oktoberfest. I made french onion soup and apple cobbler. Oktoberfest was DELICIOUS as usual. Aunt Cindy and Uncle John outdo themselves each year. Cindy billed it as "simplified Oktoberfest" this year because she didn't decorate. They just finished a 4 month kitchen/bath/bedroom remodel and their house looks amazing! Their new kitchen is especially nice. It was so fun to be with Ali and kids, Aaron and Carina and Ami! The weinerschnitzel gets better every year. We had lemon meatballs, potato pancakes, rotkohl, pork and saukerkraut, weinerschnnitzel with lignon berries, sausage, potato rolls, mushroom gravy, spaetzle, and pumpernickel bread. I hope I haven't forgotten anything. After dinner we entertained ourselves by doing the celebrity look alike thing from Myheritage.com. It was so funny. Especially when it said Uncle John looked like Condoleeze Rice, Barbara Bush and Colin Powell. Well, I forgot to take my camera so I don't have pictures from the Oktoberfest, but I do have pictures of Whitney at her most recent Dixie land jazz concert.

Wow. I guess you know how to make a girl jealous. Thanks for NOT inviting me to the Oktoberfest. I guess I'll have to make my own Austrian style wienerschnitzel one of these days-- Jonathan keeps reminding me that I made it while we were dating, but haven't since we got married, and that that was a dirty trick.
Oh yeah. Who's the skinny blonde chick named Whitney?? I don't even recognize her!!:)
A new oven?!? That's great news! Can't wait to cook in it.
