"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

I survived Girl's Camp!

I spent last week at Girl's camp up at Alturas Lake in the Sawtooth mountains by Stanley, Idaho. It is a beautiful setting with cabins and a big kitchen so we had cooks prepare all the food. It was a Stake camp and the girls stayed with all the other girls their age in the stake, so as a ward YW leader, I didn't have any responsibilities except to love and support the girls. It was a relaxing week, except for sleeping. We had a mouse in our cabin so that caused some excitement. We heard it scratching around the first night, set a trap with peanut butter the second night and woke up to find the peanut butter licked clean. We finally caught it on Thursday night with a piece of Laffy Taffy that the mouse sunk his teeth into and couldn't get out of. It was pretty disgusting. We had a few thunderstorms roll through but that just made the cabins more cozy. It was a great week of bonding and of course a little drama, but I'm glad I could go!

I'm sure there was more than just "a little drama". Girl's Camp wouldn't be the same with out it! I would not have survived the mouse incident. Sick!

Looks like the area where you guys camped was perfect (especially since someone else cooked the meals). As far as the mouse goes...I hate mice and I would not been able to sleep at nights thinking about that wretched little rodent :)

Girls have it so easy. Why not just stay in a motel in Boise with a few trees out front and call it girls camp? Sheesh. At the boys high adventure tent camp(also in Stanley), we were so hungry we were chasing the squirrels around trying to catch them and roast them over the fire on a spit. Sounds like we needed some Laffy Taffy to seal the deal.

Wow! Cabins and cooks, sounds awesome! And exciting with thunderstorms too. When I went to girl's camp, us girls did the cooking, your route is probably much safer. ;)
