"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

30th Wedding Anniversary

Our 30th wedding anniversary was Monday, August 3. We were both headed to Girl's camp/High adventure that day so we counted our Alaska cruise as our big celebration. We gave each other cards that morning before I left at 7:30 am and Tom and Taylor were to leave later that morning. Imagine my surprise when on Monday evening as I was preparing tin foil dinners and dutch oven cobbler over hot coals for 20 people, my sweet husband showed up in a suit and tie with a bouquet of red roses and a container of yogurt (we met over frozen yogurt). Tom had tricked me into thinking he was driving with Taylor and the rest of the group that morning up to the mountains, but he stayed home and worked, then drove up to Girl's camp that evening to bring me roses. Have I married a romantic or what?? He so impressed all those cute young women with his romantic gesture. We dined on tin foil dinners and cobbler and deposited one of our rocks in our picnic spot and then Tom headed off to camp with the high adventurers. What a great husband! My heart still goes "pitter pat" whenever I see him and I'm still just as in love with him after 30 years as I was on our wedding day! I know, mushy stuff, but it's true :)

Seriously?!? He needs to start teaching classes-- "How to be Thoughtful 101." I'll sign J-Man up. Maybe Dad can make his fortune by taking men on wilderness hikes and all along the way teaching them how to do rock picnics and plan romantic surprises. The men and the women would both be happy!!
