"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Random Valentine week happenings

I got to spend a couple of days last week with Patty for what Tom called my "GNO" (girls night out). My friend and neighbor, Diane, was travelling with some of her friends to Utah on Thursday and coming home on Saturday, so I tagged along. Patty picked me up in Salt Lake and we ate lunch at California Pizza Kitchen, and shopped in Salt Lake at the Gateway mall and then headed to my favorite place, "Taipan Trading Company", and then hit Red Mango for some delicious frozen yogurt. Friday we toured James' new ortho office space and then headed to Provo for a delicious Indian buffet lunch .
and then shopped at all the rest of my favorite stores. Patty made us a delicious grilled terriyaki chicken salad for dinner We had a wonderful sister weekend.
I got home in time to go to Taylor's 1st district tournament game against Boise. Unfortunately Capital lost by 4 points. It was a heartbreaker so our basketball season is over. While I was gone, cheerleaders toilet papered our house and left this "rap" poster on the door.
I bought a cute valentine's mailbox at Target a while back and had it on our dining room table as part of our Valentine's decorations. I happened to open it last week and found it full of Valentine's from my cute husband. He had been filling it with a Valentine a day since February 1st. Isn't he so thoughtful :)
I made these cute chocolate covered rice krisipie hearts on a stick for my Miamaids and for friends and family for Valentine's day.
They turned out so cute. I got the idea from Missy's website "How Does She"

Last but not least, I hosted our annual "King Cake" party last night. As usual, we had great food - fried chicken made by Cindy "Paula Deen" Gabrielsen, salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, jumbalaya, she-crab soup, cheese biscuits, and lemonade. For dessert, we of course had "King cake" and Missy made Mississippi Mud Pie. YUM! John and Cindy found the baby in their piece of King Cake so I guess they will be hosting the party next year ;) We watched the Olympics and had a great time being together.

What a great week! I loved reading about it and seeing all the pictures. Your rice krispie hearts turned out so cute and the King Cake party looks very fun. It seems to me that no matter who gets the baby, you host it. You're too good at it, I guess.

So, what is the scoop on the King Cake party? I haven't heard of this before and it sounds like the funnest tradition. That menu sounds delectable! How nice to have a GNO with patty too!!!

Your husband is so cute to you! We're a little worried about going on this trip with the honeymoon combo. ;) The rice krispie hearts look so professional. I'll have to try it sometime.
