"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Hooray for the Red, White and Blue!

On July 3rd we celebrated Independence Day. Boise sponsored the "Hooray for God and Country" parade in downtown Boise. The Cardon's were still visiting, so we headed downtown for the BIG parade.

The parade consisted mostly of politicians and beauty queens so it wasn't quite the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade but Lucy and Zachy thought it was pretty exciting! Especially when they started throwing candy.
That evening Sarah P and Eva flew in for a week long visit. We had the annual 4th of July picnic. Sara made some delicious Gouda Cheese burgers and we had homemade oreo ice cream.
After the picnic we swam
and then had the Taylor Fireworks Extravaganza.

Zachy is a typical boy and was fascinated by the fireworks. I predict a future pyro in the family. I remember my Mom used to get a headache every 4th of July. I think because she worried so much about the fireworks. As a Grandma, I'm beginning to understand.

Nothing like a little smoke and fire to capture a young boy's attention.
