"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Taylor's Last Hurrah!

This past weekend was Taylor's last weekend in Boise before he heads off to BYU. We had planned to go camping but got an invitation to stay at our friend's cabin in Donnelly which sounded a lot more appealing to me. Tom and I headed up on Thursday after work. We stopped for dinner in Cascade at the Whistle Stop Cafe, then unpacked our stuff at the cabin and then headed for a hot springs on the way to Warm Lake. We had the hot springs to ourselves and it was a beautiful setting with the stars and the moon on the horizon. It was perfect!! I was sad I forgot my camera so I couldn't take pictures and capture the moment.
Friday we headed off on an odyssey. My Mom and Dad used to tell me about how they had camped at Deadwood Reservoir and they raved about how beautiful it was. Ever since then I've wanted to go there. So on Friday we headed to Deadwood. On the way we stopped at the Deadwood mine. They used to mine for gold and silver. It is a ghost town now.

Then we had a picnic at the reservoir.
We rated it a 9.5. It had it all, delicious food, beautiful scenery, great weather, water, and good company. Had we had a few kids and grandkids there it would have rated a 10. It really was a beautiful spot.
Up on top of the dam.
After our picnic, we took a hike along the Deadwood river.

We drove back to Donnelly and checked out some campsites along the way. Taylor and Colton met us at the cabin. We drove them to McCall for some hamburgers and fries at My Father's Place,
then we headed back to the cabin and watched a movie. Saturday morning we got up early and headed back to McCall for breakfast at the Pancake House.
I had to try the huckleberry crepes and they didn't disappoint. We drove up to Burgdorf which is also an old ghost town with a great hot springs. We swam
and picnicked (9.0) and then drove back to Payette Lake for some cliff jumping.
Here they are contemplating the jump.
Taylor, Colton and Tom all jumped from the 32 foot cliff.
First Taylor...

Then Tom

Then Colton...

I was quite impressed. Payette Lake is always cold and it was kind of windy that day, so that made it all the more impressive. I'm glad they all survived.
We dried off and packed up and headed back to Boise. It was a great last weekend with Taylor. We are really going to miss that kid :(

Looks like a fun weekend. I'm glad you got Internet back. Remember when you and I jumped off the cliffs at McCall? We were so very brave. Good luck at BYU, Taylor.

I too love the bath tub picture. I hope it was sanitary. You never know if some old mountain man who hadn't washed in many moons was in there last...

Looks like one heck of a last hurrah!!! That will be so different to not have any kids at home, I guess it will mean more trips to visit the grandkids!
