"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Flood!

We had a major flood in our basement last month. The water was accidentally left on in the downstairs bathroom, which normally wouldn't have been a problem, but the sump pump broke and by the time we saw the flood, there was an inch of water on the floor of the basement. The damage was the worst outside the bathroom, into Taylor's room and the rec. room and in Tom's office which is outside the furnace room where the sump pump is. The disaster clean up crew had to pull all the carpet up, remove the damaged carpet pad and pull out the vinyl flooring in the bathroom. We got our home insurance settlement and we are now in the process of putting the basement back together.
We had to buy a new sump pump (with an alarm) and water heater, so hopefully basement flooding days are behind us. They are coming this week to reinstall the carpet and put new flooring in the bathroom.
Oh the joys of home ownership!

So sorry to hear that. Yuck! But new carpet and bathroom flooring should be nice, right?

Oh no! So sorry to hear about that. Good thing insurance covered it though.

Utah news is full of flooding and potential flooding after our precipitous winter. I worry already for all of the people who will be affected. Thank goodness your stuff is all fixable! Not fun to go through, though!

Looks like a lot of work! Not too many things are worse than cleaning up after a flood! I'm glad that you are getting everything fixed up and back to normal!
