"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

The Happiest Place on Earth (Leg 4,5, 6)

We headed to Disneyland on Thursday (Leg 4) and with the help of our faithful Tom-Tom (GPS) and Tom we drove right to the park (man, what did California drivers do in the days before GPS?). We stopped for a quick picture of Minnie Mouse on Main Street and then we headed to our favorite ride, Pirates of the Caribbean (in honor of future Caribbean missionary Taylor) and then went to the Haunted Mansion. Lucy was such a good sport, she decided her favorite ride was the scariest. Then we visited Pooh and Tigger
and the Pooh ride (Lucy was more nervous on the Pooh ride, than on Haunted Mansion) .
Then we did Thunder Mountain Rail Road and again Lucy was a trooper. Then it was off to Fantasyland and a ride on the Matterhorn Bobsleds which Lucy DID NOT like, but we made up for it when we went to It's a Small World and the Carousel
and while the adults switched off to ride Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Lucy got to see Tarzan's tree house
and the Jungle Cruise.
We had dinner on Main Street where we watched the amazing fireworks show. It was complete with Tinker Bell flying across the sky (just like I remember from my childhood). It was a great show! We stayed all day and closed down the park before we drove to our hotel.
Friday was filled with more fun at the "Happiest Place on Earth".
Autopia (I think I still have whiplash from Lucy's driving)

Captain EO in 3D (Michael Jackson in his glory days in the 80's)

Buzz Lightyear

Dancing with the Princesses
Lucy and Cinderella

Lucy and Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

Lunch at the Blue Bayou (the restaurant inside Pirates of the Caribbean -Tom and I ate there on our honeymoon 32 years ago)

Lucy with her Cotton Candy (who lets the dentist's kid eat cotton candy?)

We stayed until dark again and were worn out when we made it back to our hotel later that night.

On Saturday we decided to visit California Adventure. It was our first visit so we weren't sure what to expect. It was a mix of theme park and carnival midway. We got there early and lined up for Soarin'. It was awesome. The roller coaster, Screamin' is one of the best roller coasters we've ever ridden. It is so smooth and FAST!
We found out that Mickey Mouse hangs out there too!

We loved the swings:

Carousel
We ran into Mulan who is one of Lucy's favorite princesses.
We loved the Alladin show at the Hyperion Theater. It was as good as anything I've seen on broadway.
This picture is a picture of a picture at Hollywood Tower of Terror. See if you can see Tom and I on row 2. It is pretty funny.
The 3D show of a Bug's Life was very entertaining.
We stayed all afternoon at California Adventure and then left around 6 pm to drive back to Las Vegas (Leg 5). Jonathan and his parents were such good sports to watch Zachy (who wouldn't have enjoyed all the waiting in lines). Tom and I got up early on Sunday morning and drove all the way back to Boise (leg 6). Thankfully we were able to pick up a radio station broadcasting Conference to entertain us along the way.
We had a great Spring Break road trip!

What a great time you had! I'm so glad Lucy got to see so many princesses because that's what she told me she was most excited about.

Disneyland is SO much fun with grandkids! We had such a great time, too. It was worth the trip just to see Blake's face on Small World! I LOVED California Screamin'! I hope I'm never too old for roller coasters!
