It has finally started to look and feel like fall in Boise. Our neighborhood looks beautiful with all the trees turning red, orange and yellow and the temperatures are dropping close to freezing at night. We have had great weather this month with lots of clear crisp days. Another sign of the season is the annual Young Men's and Young Women's Mutual Halloween party. It was a costume party this year, so the young men's president called me to help him with his costume. He wanted to dress like Bishop Morris while the Bishop was on the 50 miler this summer. Tom has some awesome "MC Hammer zebra stripe pants" that he wore at night around camp. He paired his zebra pants with Taylor's "lone wolf" T-shirt that Tom wore in honor of Taylor who was in the MTC instead of on the 50 miler, and a black knit beanie. The young men couldn't believe that the Bishop owned clothes that ugly, so the clothes just added to Tom's mountain man mystique. T-Hawes (as the young men call the YM President) needed me to find the clothes and get them to him without the Bishop's knowledge, so luckily I was able to find them and the surprise went off without a hitch (well almost without a hitch, Tom was golfing and was 30 minutes late to mutual). T-Hawes sprung out of the curtains on the stage in the gym and Tom was quite surprised, wondering how T-Hawes had clothes just like him. It was awesome. But according to the young men, T-Hawes just couldn't re-create the "Can't Touch This!" dance quite like Mad Dog did it with a flashlight at night up in the mountains. Wish I could have been there for that.

Here's Tom who wore his "golfer" costume and T-Hawes.
Here's the other prize winners in the costume contest,
Most refelective of the person wearing the costume, Most original, Scariest, and Funniest.

Another sign of the season is our annual picnic to the mountains to see the fall leaves. Tom took Friday afternoon off, and we drove up to Garden Valley for a delicious picnic and fall foliage tour. It was beautiful!

Tom tried his hand at fishing for a few minutes, but only caught one.

The fish must be hibernating.
We even saw a deer right next to the road (hopefully he is hiding from all the hunters).

I love this barn and take a picture of it every year.

We put away all of the patio furniture this weekend and got the yard ready for winter. It is sad realizing that winter is just around the corner, so we better enjoy fall while we can.

Those are some pretty scary clothes! Wow! Tom wears that? I can see why Sara feels overwhelmed with the job she has to do to stylize her dad. You can do it, Sara! I have faith. He does look pretty dapper in his golf clothes, though. And you, Joan look gorgeous in the leaf picture. Happy Fall!
Holy cow. I had no idea those pants existed. He needs to keep his hands on those. They'll be worth a lot of money someday... maybe they are already. I hope you got them back from THaws or you might have to buy them back from Ebay. Your picnic sounds heavenly. You've inspired me to do a picnic this weekend.
There is only one Mad Dog Morris. Plain and simple.
P.S. Who picked out Hawaiian Punch as the drink for your picnic? Seriously?!? Was the Sunny D all sold out? Come on Mom. Despite the scenery, there's no way that picnic graded out as a 10. You have so much to learn young grasshopper...
The Hawaiian punch was Dad drink of choice. I refuse to drink that stuff, ever since Donny Osmond used to sing the jingle.
Would it surprise anyone if I told you I bought the Hawaiian Punch . . . because it was only 50 cents? Take that you rich picnic snobs. And as to my choice of clothes? Excuse me for having a personality. Can't touch that, Baby!
I love that pic of the mountain stream! Is there anything prettier than fall in the mountain? Looks as if you guys have been having some Halloween fun!
I love those zebra pants! I hope that Tom brings them on the cruise! Your picnic looks so fun and in such a beautiful setting!!
Oh man. Laughing so hard about that ensemble...and the 50 cent Hawaiian Punch. How did they survive my cleaning of the closet?!? Jon may have to borrow them for his 50-miler this summer.
That costume is pretty funny!! And it's even funnier that uncle Tom wears that crazy outfit!?!
