"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Idaho Republican Caucus

Idaho had its' first ever Republican Caucus on March 6. The Ada county caucus was held at the "Taco Center" as Governor Otter mistakenly called it and 9,000 Republicans showed up to cast their vote. Idaho is usually left out of the Primary decision making because their Primary was held in May and by then the nominee was already chosen, so they moved to having a caucus in March. It was really interesting being there. I went with my friend Patricia (Tom had church stuff to do) and we saw lots of other friends and acquaintances there doing their civic duty. The voting process was SLOW, we were there for 5 hours. A representative for each candidate gave a 5 minute sales pitch on their candidate and then we voted. Each section had to go to the voting booth and one at a time go into the booth and put a penny in the can for their candidate. Then they had to count all the pennies. The candidate with 50% of the vote was named the nominee from Ada county and thankfully it only took one vote. Mitt Romney was named the winner at 10:10 pm. We got home at 10:30 pm and in spite of the long night, were glad that we had made history by participating in the first ever Republican caucus.

Wow. That's pretty interesting! I'm proud of you doing your duty. Good ol' Governor Otter. Glad he won that tight jeans contest so long ago!
