"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

2nd Annual BYU Cougar 5K Fun Run and Freshman Sendoff Breakfast

We had a busy day yesterday. It was the 2nd annual Cougar Fun Run and Freshman Sendoff Breakfast. Each chapter of the BYU Alumni Association is supposed to hold an activity to welcome the newly admitted Freshman into the Alumni association. We decided to have a breakfast for them and combine it with a Fun Run. It was a great success! Last year we had just over 100 people and this year we had around 150 with at least 30 newly admitted freshman.
The women's winner! Whitney came home and helped us get ready for the Fun Run. Here she is crossing the finish line. Yeah for Whitney!!
Our neighbors, the Manwarings, also participated. Here's Jed beating Patricia across the finish line.
We served BYU blue pancakes (some with blueberries), sausage, fruit and juice. The blue pancakes were definitely a hit.
Tom was the master of ceremonies, we played BYU trivia and gave out some great BYU prizes.
We sang the Cougar Fight Song and tried to teach the new freshman the words. Since we live in BSU's Bronco country, it is so fun to get together with fellow BYU Cougars and rise and shout!

What a great activity! I remember ours was like a BBQ and there were no more than 20 people. You've definitely improved upon that!!

Damn Broncos. Don't tell Dad I said that. I guess I'm just not cut out to live in Boise.

P.S. I'm pretty sure I could beat just about anybody in BYU trivia. Any takers?

Looks like a really fun activity! You and Tom do such a great job with all of your activities - BYU will never let you go as Alumni Directors!
