"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Celebrations!

June is a month of celebrations at our house. First my birthday and then Father's Day! My birthday was on a Tuesday this year, so after work, Tom took me out to dinner at a delicious Thai food restaurant downtown called Mai Thai. Later he "showered me" with presents and for my birthday cake, gave me the greatest treat ever, cupcakes! A new cupcake bakery opened up in Meridian, so we sampled a maple, bacon cupcake, a strawberry shortcake cupcake, a peach mango cupcake, and my favorite, an almond joy. They were all delicious! It was a fun birthday treat! Friday afternoon, Tom got off work early and we took a bike ride on the greenbelt. We rode at least 10 miles as we started up by Orchard street and rode all the way past the Warmsprings Golf course. It was a beautiful day and the weather was perfect. Father's Day was the following Sunday. Our neighbor's the Manwaring's decorate this "creche" made out of ivy in their front yard to fit the season. They grew it so they would have somewhere to put the nativity scene at Christmas time. Now, on every holiday, it is interesting to see what appears. Here is their tribute to their Dad, Jed. I didn't honor Tom in quite the same way, but we had a fun Father's Day weekend. Tom got to go hiking on Saturday and on Sunday after I showered him with gifts, we had a delicious dinner and invited Grandma and Grandpa Charlie over. For dessert, we had Dad's favorite, banana cream pie. We have one more June celebration, Sara's birthday is on Tuesday and we will be picking up her and her family on Wednesday in Salt Lake and heading to Island Park for the weekend! We can't wait!!

I am so telling Ken about the creche, so he can make me one. I want one, I want one! How funny. Those cupcakes look amazing. I'm dying to know what was in your gift shower for your birthday. I also really want one . . or two of those cupcakes.
