"So much in life depends on our attitude. The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference. To do the best we can and then to choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment."—Thomas S. Monson

Aspen Grove Adventure

Tom and I drove down to Utah for the BYU Alumni chapter conference in Aspen Grove on Thursday September 6. The Conference began on Thursday afternoon but Tom had to officiate at his first funeral as Bishop so we didn't get to Aspen Grove until late Thursday night. We stopped in Provo and had dinner with Whitney before we drove to Aspen Grove. We drove through a rain storm and saw this beautiful double rainbow
I hadn't been to Aspen Grove since 1977 when we had a Gabrielsen family reunion there. It has really changed and now has a beautiful conference center.

We were in meetings all day Friday, but Friday night we drove into Provo and had dinner with Whitney, Sarah P and kids at Cafe Rio. Sarah P, Eva and Sophie had flown into Las Vegas on Labor Day and drove up to Provo with Sarah's Mom, Darlene to spend the weekend and visit Sarah's sisters. After dinner we got to watch Whitney play intramural kickball. Afterwards we had frozen yogurt. YUM
Saturday morning we checked out at Aspen Grove and drove to BYU for some concluding classes and then we hosted a gathering of all the BYU students from the Boise valley. We served free pizza and soda and gave away some BYU freebies.
After our pizza party, we hurried to attend the BYU vs. Weber State football game It was a beautiful day and the Cougars won, so what could be better than that?
We hopped in the car and drove back to Boise after the football game. It was a very busy BYU weekend.

Wow! You guys are really nice alumni hosts. You give away cool stuff. Did anyone come in the night at Aspen Grove calling, "Joan! Joan Gabrielsen?" Just wondering . . .

I would LOVE to go to another BYU game one of these days. How come Boise BYU alumni did squat when I was in school? I think I got some free pencils once...
